Doesn’t mean Barmore is playing a 0, or White is playing a 3-5. Probably, but again, was never commenting on Pittsburgh vs NE. Ekuale sucks. Guy isn’t really such a solid player anymore, unfortunately. Probably above being just a body out there, but he’s not great anymore. Godchaux is mixed. Heyward, as you said, is significantly better than all those guys. But again, was never commenting on Pittsburgh vs NE. Perkins’ off the field stuff hasn’t affected his time in NE thus far. He just hasn’t shown enough to make the team. Which is saying a lot, because prior to this year, NE’s lacked edge rushers. Judon’s been good there obviously, Wise kinda moonlights there when necessary but that’s not his specialty. Uche finally came on, but Perkins had his chance to compete there in the first two years. And now throughout the spring and camp this year, aside from a final preseason game, he hasn’t done anything to standout there. With White in the fold and Anfernee Jennings stout vs the run, Perkins’ roster spot is basically way up in the air. He’s not going to contribute on third down, at least not this year. Lazy is just throwing the teams’ backup/roster fodder into a post and saying that that’s good depth. Perkins isn’t depth. Fagot isn’t depth. Roberts isn’t depth. Could they be one day? Sure. But they aren’t right now. They’re fringe roster guys on the bubble that haven’t proven anything in this league. In Perkins’ case that’s actually literally true, because he’s never played an NFL down. You take the time to watch these guys in college, that’s great. Things change. Ronnie Perkins looked like a decent prospect at one time, but he’s been nonexistent at the NFL level. You don’t need special eyes to see that. Yeah, once again, never commented or cared about NE vs Pittsburgh. Spelling sorry. As for not comparing New England and Pittsburgh, well the post you referenced the poster I was replying to was doing exactly that and you commented on it....so As for Perkins, clearly he was hurt the previous two years and if the Patriots wanted to cut him they could have year one or two. So obviously they see something in the kid to keep him around, and if he does not turn out, so what he is not that expensive. But he is talented enough to keep around. As for this "fodder"....well Isiah Pacheco was a huge part of that Super Bowl run the Chiefs went on and he was a 7th round pick, Jaylen Watson another 7th rounder as well that made a lot of big plays for them as a rookie. Or Trey Smith the 6th rounder or L'Jarius Sneed the 4th rounder.... So players at the end of the roster is part of what makes up great rosters, and recently the best rosters in football usually win the Super Bowl. Eagles and Chiefs no question had the two best rosters in football across all positions, and backups do matter when looking at an entire roster or a position core. It’s rare for Day 2 picks to be cut before their rookie year, no matter how bad they are. Same for Year 2. No doubt they wanted him to develop, but it hasn’t happened. 31 minutes ago, Ozzy said: As for this "fodder"....well Isiah Pacheco was a huge part of that Super Bowl run the Chiefs went on and he was a 7th round pick, Jaylen Watson another 7th rounder as well that made a lot of big plays for them as a rookie. Yeah, but you know what they all have in common? They all made the team (as rookies) and contributed on the field. Perkins hasn’t done it. Roberts sorta did made the team at least, but hardly played. Fagot hasn’t. Compete apples to oranges. FWIW: NE cut Carl Davis, so Roberts’ chances greatly improved. Kmart128
Bills are definitely top 10 but i wont say #1 overall. If Rousseau becomes elite then maybe they make a case. And Von Miller getting hurt last year didnt really seem to hurt very much. We played some of our best ball right before the playoffs. But he definitely would have helped. All those Cowboys players were successful because of the insane attention brought on Parsons and he still played great. And he is not even on the list.... Not to mention playing Markquese Bell more as a LB and adding more insane speed all over the place, and Bell can bring it and strike people so good fit there with versatility. 8 hours ago, MSURacerDT55 said: *cough, cough* Browns No question, awesome showing by them. Too bad they have Captain dirk Bag human being as a QB, just think what they could accomplish if he was not the QB....the guy is an awful person considering what he did and basically got away with. Is a little deceptive though because Burrow was clearly rusty and and Bengals defense without those star safeties will be totally different and need time to adjust to that.... You gone have to get over that, it is what it is. People have been dirtbags from the start of football, this is entertainment. Don’t pick and choose who to be outraged about, if you’re going to have that stance, have it about every single guy who commits a crime or just move on. True but ultimately if the Browns want to win it big, not sure in this day and age it can be done with a guy like that at QB. His character is flawed and it is shown on the field even, because no way he is the player he used to be when he first came into the league. He knows what he did happened even though he denied it, the dude settled out of court and paid the victims millions because he is guilty of exactly what he is accused of doing. That guy will help a pretty stacked roster win a Super Bowl with his leadership? Not so sure about that. And not sure they can win it big without great QB leadership.... They will probably regret giving that guy the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history. It was habitual and predatory behavior, if he was not a millionaire NFL QB he could be in jail for those crimes I have little doubt "offender used threats of physical harm or extortion to coerce the other person into sexual contact." But the victims got paid out and settled out of court so they did get something, so why continue on with it. Either way a dude like that leads a football team well, I really doubt that. Kind of like Mel Tucker currently, dude sexually harassed a sexual assault awareness speaker? And all that has to be said by him was is it was mutual. That is exactly what Watson said... Think Mel Tucker has any leg to stand on as a leader of Michigan State anymore, the dude will most likely be fired shortly. Yet Deshaun Watson is a QB so he can still be a leader? Nah... He didn't hit the minimum number of snaps at either edge or interior to qualify. Since it was a blowout, he only played about half of the snaps in the game. A good chunk of those would've been run plays. And since he moves all over, he would have had rush snaps from edge, rush snaps from inside, and coverage snaps. So he didn't rush from any one spot enough to qualify yet. The stat is fine, and this will correct itself on it's own within a week or two. He's not the only guy not on the list for that reason. MKnight82
The supposed “best Dline in football” allowed 172 rushing yards to a Zach Wilson led offense last night.
RandyMossIsBoss
So far, looks like Hargrave will not be missed thanks to addition of Carter along with Davis and Milton improving. Even Cox looked better than he has in awhile… However, Pats were employing 2 replacement level guards, so will have to reserve judgement a few more weeks on if this DL unit is in position to run it back as league’s best. Hard not to be excited though, and those guys still had plenty of good reps against the more respectable T Brown and Andrews, wasn’t exclusively picking on those Pats guards whose names I already forget. jebrick
I would second the Browns moving into the top 10. Z. Smith gives Garrett a counterbalance. They are going to be very good at getting after the passer as long as they stay healthy. Edited September 13, 2023 by jebrick
Hunter2_1
Pats allowed only 251 yards, 150 from hurts, 25 carries of less than 4 yards per carry. Forced phillie into the 3rd worst 3rd down efficiency on the week. against, for me, the best OL in football. I’ll take that all day.
