Bro..... Fields is talented.  He did some of the timing, anticipatory throws nicely last season.  He just needs to be consistent with it...as a pocket passer.  This is what all Bears fans wanted from him because everybody will be happy.... :)

I agree he needs to be better about it, but invoking Kurt Warner is such another level.

There are plenty of offenses in the NFL that dont completely fall apart if exact timing isnt there.

Fields best talent are athleticism and his arm strength, so Obviously we should keep him in the pocket and run timing routes right?

Anticipation and throwing guys open is VERY different than timing routes. And yes thats something he needs to improve on, but again, hes less than 30 games into his career, he isnt Trevor Lawrence, he wasnt the #1 overall Pick for a reason.

You said it, we saw some of it last year, but only when we changed the offense, when it became roll outs and move the pocket and baiting the Defense with the threat of his legs. Those are all things that were for some reason taken out of the playbook in week 1, and he is being judged as a pocket QB. He isnt, and the sooner everyone becomes OK with it, the sooner your perspective will change

Bro, you are missing the big picture.

Go tell Fields to be consistent as a pocket passer in all kind of passes.  If he can do that, the Bears will be awesome and all the fans will be happy.  You will be happy.  I will be happy.... FOR HIM!

Sorry man, youre missing the picture if you are trying to make Justin Fields a pocket passer. Square Peg/Round Hole.

I agree with the sentiment of posters wanting Fields to be the best version of himself - he will not be a lighting quick accurate pocket passer.

But we need to borrow elements from the Ravens and Lamar. They made a shrewd bet - the next mahomes is impossible to find but can we win with a running QB? It’s paid off let’s follow that.

Wasn’t he a successful pocket passer at OSU?

Not in this quick and short passing offense.  It was also behind a really good O line.   Seems like kind of a cheat sheet to figure out how to make him sucessful in the pros, but guess there was a more innovative path that involves a ****load of linebackers.

It's possible that the Bears figure this out and at least start playing better than last year, but it's fair to wonder if the best thing for all concerned-at least if the game plan and QB continue to come from different planets-would be to trade him to another team with a better OL and a scheme that can withstand not having vintage Tom Brady at the helm to succeed.

Bingo, and even then, it wasnt just sit back there all day and reading coverages

He has the legs, that doesnt mean make him a RB, but it means roll outs, naked boots, called runs and giving him the chance to break one off when needed. Not just sit in the pocket every pass, and then make half of those quick screens. (all while they have apparently beat the gunslinger out of him all offseason)

Throwing a ton of screens wasnt my favorite, but it did (along with a few of the runs he broke) dowhat it was supposed to in the first half, it sucked the D up. But then we just kept doing it in the 2nd half, so it made it even worse.

It’s funny you just have to adorn @Sugashane ‘s apathy as a bears fan. Even if we got a qb with the potential to be top 5 ever, the bears are going to **** it up. They’d probably give him 5 Mustiphers to play behind, and then no one to throw to. Idk how we all manage to have a higher than average investment/fandom of this team: where their success and failures can make or break our mental health for a week at a time. And every year we expect it to be better, even though we are a historically average team.

What can I say? If you set the bar low enough the times they do something well get you really excited.

Dodgeball made being a Bears fan more bearable.
