2023 - The Second Half

In that particular situation, they'd have to lose all 4, since we're still behind them by 2 games.  Any situation likely where we'd end up tied with them we'd have the tiebreaker because of a better division and conference record (we're tied right now in conference record, but would end up with a better one if we end up tied overall).

It's still a longshot to win the division, but if the Vikings do win all 4, they are guaranteed to win the division no matter what Detroit does in those other 2 games (vs. Broncos and Cowboys)

It looks likely that the Vikings would host the LIons in the playoffs if the Vikings win the next four games.  That would mean playing to beat Detroit a third time in four weeks.

Alternatively, if the Vikings play well enough to make the playoffs without catching the Lions there is a very real chance they'll be playing Detroit a third time in four weeks, but they would be playing in Detroit.

Is it possible that going into the last week of the season it will already be decided they are playing again the following week with the last game possibly determining where the game would be held. If that's the case, how much do you show Detroit in the last game?  How much do you risk injury to your starters?

If you go into the last game against Detroit with nothing to gain and knowing you'll be facing Detroit the next week in Detroit, sit all the starters and run the ball between the guards every play. Show nothing. Risk nothing.

Here's a scenario to keep in mind:

If the Vikings do this — Beat Bengals Beat Packers
And the Lions do this — Lose to Broncos Lose to Cowboys

the Vikings would only need to beat the Lions once to win the NFC North and host a playoff game.

It seems very feasible. It’s just so hard to know what this team is with yet another QB change.
