Danger
Hope for the best, expect the worst, Pats fans. First player I've personally seen drafted -> Head Coach, DeMeco was the year before I really started paying attention to the draft.

minutemancl
This makes him the youngest head coach in the NFL now, right? He's a month younger than McVay, based on what I can tell. He only started coaching in 2019, and this is his 2nd position ever. This doesn't seem like a wise hiring. He's had no opportunities to make mistakes, only one head coach to learn from, never called plays at any level, and never ventured outside of coaching one position group. This seems really bad. Nothing says they have to interview anyone else as long as they interview at least 1 POC, right? Or am I misremembering the Rooney rule? I think that was the old rule. Now for a head coaching vacancy you have to interview 2 minority coaches. And they both have to come from outside the organization. So Mayo doesnt satisfy any of the rooney rule cause he was an internal canidate.

From the days of drafting and scouting him in that NFL Head Coach game to him actually becoming an NFL head coach. Wow…

CP3MVP
I feel like if anyone else was never even a DC/OC coordinator at the NFL level and got a HC job people on Twitter would be upset

Bobby is a nepo baby. I also hate the idea of a PFF guy getting a head coaching job. Edited January 12 by minutemancl

That is the Rooney Rule, but it does not apply to this situation because……… Quote Mayo, 37, had it written into his contract last year that he would be Belichick’s successor and that language was turned into the league. That’s why the Patriots did not have to go through a full search to determine their next head coach. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/patriots-hire-jerod-mayo-as-head-coach#

And first hand you’ve seen every single one of his assistants fail. And now you want one? Don’t even want to see what else is out there? Okay Because Bill still wants to be a GM

Daniel
Dang. I was hoping they'd hire Vrabel and free up Mayo, who in his disenfranchisement, would maybe, possibly, look back to a simpler time in his life. When he played college ball. In Tennessee.
