Bengals trade RB Joe Mixon to Texans

Solid rotational piece, but his days as the bellcow are over. Seriously a **** move to do that to him and Jones IMO, you had a number of teams let their guys go early so teams could make a move to get them early. Balance, I guess.

GB was trying to get a deal done with Jones at a reduced cap hit.  Talks broke down and once the " legal tampering " opened GB looked into other options.  Sure it sucks, but if a Jones/ his agent didn’t have a sense a release might be the endpoint,  that's on them as much as the team.

Mixon has been a solid power rusher the past couple years, but he has zero wiggle anymore, and is a liability in pass protection. For as much as he was making, the Bengals needed more.

2017 Cash Earnings $2,568,763

2018 Cash Earnings $712,735

2019 Cash Earnings $1,054,477

2020 Cash Earnings $14,367,007

2021 Cash Earnings $5,376,471

2022 Cash Earnings $8,611,754

2023 Cash Earnings $6,100,000

He hasn't been as good as his paycheck for quite awhile. He was underpaid his first three seasons, way overpaid his last 4. They really should have cut him before last season, but if his agent didn't know this was coming that's a poor agent. I still bet he gets picked up somewhere, just not at $6 million

He was literally on par with every other year of his career last season.

Thought the Texans would have been better off taking one of the top rookie RB's on day 2 of the draft.

Only RB I'm a fan of is Jonathan Brooks and he is coming off an injury. Thats who I was hoping we pick if we struck out on all of these Rb's in free agency.   I hope we still target him to pair with Mixon.

RBs will surprise us every draft as there's always unknowns who get their shot and just kill it, but this RB class, in terms of top-end talent, seems to be pretty terrible.
