2018 Packer DEFENSE Discussion

From JSO/Silverspoon :

" Joe Whitt will be coaching a different system that requires the cornerbacks to play press coverage a good portion of the time"

That fits for King. No clue about House or Randall. The next comment in the article caught my eye:

"Whitt won’t be coaching the cornerbacks next season and will play a big-picture role on defense."

Sounds like Whitt is moving up in title, responsibility and paycheck.

Does that mean Perry will coach both S and CB's ?  IF they give a dual role to Darren Perry, that helps his future value as well

House and King are both built for press man.

Randall's in the slot so things are generally different there anyway.

that's great for september, but what about our #4, 5 and 6 guys for Oct-January?

I saw LaDarius Gunter make some plays for the Panthers vs NO...time to bring him back! (Jokes aside, he should never be starting but as a 5th guy he’s decent depth)

Haven’t looked at the FA market for CBs, but there has to be far more reliable guys than him out there.

Randomly cut out half of them (re-signings).

Then account for:

*Age
*Contract
*Whether or not they'd even want to play here

There are a lot of them, but I doubt any of them are going to be targets for us.  We've invested a lot into the position as far as draft picks, and none of them are off the roster yet.  90% sure we're just going to put our faith into finally staying healthy there and a new DC having a significant impact on their improvement.

True. I guess we're penciling King as our 1, Randall in the slot and are looking for the other boundary.  House wouldn't be an awful signing, I still think it'd be a position of need though.

A guy like Rollins was a high pick, but I doubt they have any faith in him going forward.
