get em, Russ

So the signing bonus alone ($18m) will result in a cap charge of $3.6m from 2017 - 2021 with $6.4m extra carrying over to 2018.

The alternative would have been a $4.5m charge from 2018 - 2021 but with an extra $10m rolling over to 2018.

Of course depending on how the salary is structured, the individual years' cap hits will change. ^^But that is a neat accounting trick, thinking long-term.

Sort of the opposite to Mickey Loomis constantly tacking on "automatically voided" years to contract to kick the $$$ can down the road.

That's the difference between a franchise with a healthy salary cap (Green Bay) and one that doesn't (New Orleans).

Biggest worry is if he will be the same, and can keep himself safe from any more concussions. 2 bad ones. Yes they were on illegal hits, but hopefully they don't turn into something that will linger and make it easier to get them in the future.

If him and Rodgers are locked up it is a heck of a duo. Adams is fun to watch.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says the deal is actually for $58 million over four years, with $32 million to be paid out through 2019. That means Adams would be hauling in an average of $14.5 million per season over the life of the contract.

Only six receivers currently make at least $14 million each season, according to Spotrac: Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas.

That's alot of money.

Is he really worth paying 14 mil per year? I know he's had double digit TDs the past two seasons but he's never cracked 1000 yards receiving.

He missed 1,000 yards by 3 yards last year, and he missed it by 115 this year in 14 games with Hundley throwing to him in 9 of those 14 games.

If this year was 2015, no, but this year is 2017, and in like two years this deal will look like the Packers robbed Adams.
