He gets rid of guys right before they start their downward spiral. Pete Carroll obviously realizes that the current team has peaked and that peak is not a Superbowl contender. They tried to add players like Richardson, but it wasn't enough. All these guys probably have another 2-3 years of high level play, but it's better to sell early than late.
