NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Big Blue is expected to hire Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as the team's new coach, per a source informed of the decision. Shurmur cannot negotiate or sign with the Giantsuntil the Vikings are eliminated from the playoffs. Minnesota heads to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. Do the Vikings keep Keenum, or does he follow Shurmur to NYG? Edited January 23, 2018 by RaidersAreOne
gopherwrestler
Probably end up keeping Keenum, unless Eli would retire and maybe Shurmur would make a run at Keenum
Trentwannabe
This is my favorite hire.
TENINCH
Outstanding fit for the Giants. I wish Shurmur nothing but the absolute best in New York. Get a couple good seasons out of Eli and work his magic on Darnold or Rosen if they go that route.
AZ_Eaglesfan
As an Eagles fan, I am happy this isn't Jim Schwartz. Shurmur is odd in that he had success in Minnesota, add the Eagles offense under Chip was good(although that was 100% Chip's offense), but he was a disaster in St. Louis and Cleveland. If he can replicate Minny's success this year, it is a great move.

Just wasn't given enough time to build his team.
pigsooie5
I think this is a good hire given where the Giants are at as a team right now. Was definitely my least favorite of the six candidates the Bears interviewed.
sdrawkcab321
Hopefully he’s learned from his 2 yard passing days and not throwing past the first down marker in Cleveland
Forge
I feel like this makes NYG a particularly good fit for Rosen in the draft now. I think he would fit that offense well.
vikingsrule
Shurmur would be a good hire for NY. He's shown he can be successful with two completely different types of QBs in Keenum and Bradford. I don't see NY getting rid of Manning yet, I think Shurmur can make that work for another year while the 2nd overall pick is groomed.
Kip Smithers
OK.

Brandon Gibson, Laurent Robinson, Danario Alexander, and Danny Amendola was his receiving Corp.

Bigger question would be do they draft a QB with their first pick.
Mind Character
Shurmur is going to be awful for the NY media. No pizzazz, no nonsense, easily gets combative and argues with the media as per his time with the Browns. He's a great QB coach and a good offensive mind. Luckily NYG is familiar with the Coughlin experience which will be similar to Shurmur's affect in pressers and media. He'll do well there if he's learned lessons from past opportunities. It's a good hire. Will Shurmur gel with Josh Rosen?? Will Baker Mayfield be his guy? Will be interesting to see how he sees the QB decision.

If Manning is released, I see Bradford following Shurmur, not Keenum.
