Vixen Twins watch Wild Wolves and Loony Lynx (MN Sports Thread)

Rough game for our team to be sure.  We gave a good team a lot of extra chances.  Defense hauled in two interceptions to double Boston's total for the year, and the offense gave the ball back on the very next play both times.  We were set to go into the half 14-14, but the defense faltered on a scramble drill and gave up a 23 yard touchdown with 6 seconds left in the half.

A lot of good lessons learned, a fun season, and a definite hunger for more from the team.  The coverage the team received from the Strib, KFAN, and a bunch of other local news organizations is hopefully something that will continue to help us build for the future.

Berrios scratched from his start tomorrow. Sounds like he's going to be traded. It's going to be real dark couple of years for the Twins.

It hasn't been real light for most of the past 3 decades.  There have certainly been moments, but it's been mostly dark since about 1993.

Berrios isn’t anything special

Sure. He's best as a #2 somewhere else. But he's the best pitcher in our organization, and it's not really close. The team needs to keep its homegrown arms, because we aren't attracting any top tier free agents.

Didn’t realize Berrios was on the trading block, the Twins selling and starting from scratch? What did we get for Nelly Cruz?

A couple of pretty good pitching prospects. From what I've read, they're said to be close to major league ready, but they aren't top of the rotation guys.

He may be the best they have but it’s not worth overpaying for, and Berrios, reportedly, wants to break the bank.

If that’s true, let him do that elsewhere.

They've basically said that about every homegrown pitcher since Frank Viola. You have to pay for pitching or you aren't contending for a title. Simple as that.

Sadly, the Twins won't do that though. The Pohlads know they don't have to compete to be profitable.

I guess that depends how you feel about winning your division and getting swept in the playoffs.  There's been quite a few playoff teams in that time frame.
