You mean besides trading for Odorizzi and Maeda and signing Pineda twice? All in the last three years? They messed up this year....but it's not like they've done nothing. This FO took a pretty much last place staff, and had them in the top 10 in 2019 and 2020. Didn't work this year, for a lot of reasons. But not lack of effort. Apparently I read that he just lost all of his confidence on the court in his performance and then the coaches lost enough confidence in him to even put him on the court, so then he became disillusioned as last season wore on to even work towards getting more playing time and wanted a new start somewhere else. Not sure how that would even be remotely possible, but obtaining, and then using these larger, expiring contracts fits the narrative. As expected, he's taking the same approach here as they took in Houston, trying to think 2 steps ahead when making acquisitions, in the never ending quest to put star players together. Philadelphia’s asking price is apparently in free fall, as teams know that Simmons doesn’t want to be their, and everyone knows that Philly doesn’t want him. But I still don’t know how the Wolves would manage to put together a package that is more enticing than other teams potentially looking at Simmons.
