vikingsrule
Jones would be a nice veteran to have around in case injuries pile up or Elflein plays poorly. But who do they cut? I’ll still say that Abdullah isn’t worth keeping around for his role so I’d start there.
swede700
And what will be the corresponding move?
gopherwrestler
Still can’t imagine them cutting Abdullah with his contract being guaranteed now. If I would guess it would be Holmes or Watts. Unless they cut another offensive lineman for him.
gopherwrestler
Slight chance it could be Boyd or Fields if Hughes actually does return, but I doubt it.

That's probably what I'd do but I think he's safe
SemperFeist
a few more details. Before Alwxander’s injury, I’d have said Fields or Boyd, but now I think it’ll be Watts. There’s not really a need for 6 DTs, let alone a 3rd/4th nose tackle. Edited September 10, 2019 by SemperFeist

Could be a lot of changes next year so you’d hate to lose a player like Watts, who looked good in preseason. But CB is looking thin with Hughes and Hill out and Alexander nursing an injury.
SemperFeist
I don’t think you’d lose Watts. I don’t see another team putting him on their active 53.

swede700
I didn't see this officially posted anywhere, even though I saw it earlier. Quote Mackensie Alexander doesn’t need surgery, and the Vikings won’t have to make a roster move for him either. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Vikings cornerback will not need surgery for his dislocated elbow, which means he should avoid going on injured reserve. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/09/10/mackensie-alexander-doesnt-need-elbow-surgery/ He may still be out a couple of weeks or so.
Cearbhall
It is great that he won't have to go on the boomerang IR. This means that the Vikings will be looking somewhere else to make room for Jones when he is officially brought back.
swede700
It's the Marian Flash... And they'll either re-sign him back to the PS...or that other guy from the Jets that was cut today.
SemperFeist
At least this likely means that Conklin is healthy for this week.
Krauser
Hope they keep Dillon on the PS, he was very good this preseason. Might have long-term upside as a rotational TE after Rudolph moves on in a year or two.
