battle2heaven
PPF's road to cap compliancy https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-fixing-teams-least-salary-cap-space-2023-free-agency MINNESOTA VIKINGS Current projected 2023 cap space: (-$24,424,174) Extend QB Kirk Cousins (+$15,000,000) Approximation without getting into the weeds of what an extension could look like Extend TE T.J. Hockenson (+$5,250,000) Restructure OT Brian O’Neill (+$10,065,000) Negotiate pay cut with WR Adam Thielen (+$5,000,000) Negotiate pay cut with LB Eric Kendricks (+$4,150,000) Negotiate pay cut with S Harrison Smith (+$4,700,000) End result 2023 cap space: $19,740,826 Yeaa that makes sense. I'd probably cut Hicks if you are keeping Kendricks. I'd probably cut both but you can't keep both, just one or the other. What does Kirk do/respond with? Maybe even play better to try and get another contract. He’s not going to hold out, or hold a press conference and complain. He’s old enough he can’t do what Lamar did the past year (not talking about the injury part) and basically throw shade out all year.

Do you really expect him to take some aggressive stance in the media or alienate his teammates or the fan base? He went through the same sort of thing in Washington and was nothing but the consummate professional. If he were to take an aggressive stance, that would be completely contrary to the character he has portrayed his entire career. His agent would be the one taking the aggressive stance, not him.

I don't think preferring a) no extension b) equitable possible trade compared to c) extension ... is 'circus causing'

vike daddy
Field Yates@FieldYates Vikings DT Dalvin Tomlinson’s deal was set to void in recent days, which would have pushed $7.5M of dead money onto their 2023 cap. The team & Tomlinson agreed to move the void date to 3/15. This buys more time for a possible extension that avoids all $7.5M hitting the 2023 cap.
vike daddy
For the first time, the NFL Players Association conducted a “player team report card” for all 32 teams. It presented the results of the player survey of eight topics on Wednesday: treatment of player families food service/nutrition weight room strength coaches training room training staff locker room team travel The players’ union ranked all 32 teams in an attempt to give free agents information to consider before deciding where to sign. The Vikings ranked as the top team overall, followed by the Dolphins and the Raiders. The Commanders were at the bottom of the rankings, with the Cardinals 31st and the Chargers 30th. The survey was sent to roughly 2,200 players, and the NFLPA received 1,300 responses. The entire list can be found at NFLPA.com. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/01/nflpa-survey-vikings-top-player-team-report-card-and-commanders-rank-last/ Edited March 2, 2023 by vike daddy

Really only 1 reason. Hopefully they can work out a pay cut…. A pay cut is simple. Cut your salary in half, or get cut. The only question to get answered is if another team is willing to pay him more than he’d get in a pay cut, or if his ego will allow him to accept it. I’d be quite surprised if another team was willing to pay him, or guarantee him, $6M in 2023. Edited March 4, 2023 by SemperFeist
