Obviously, you've not seen cousins play in a game(s) that really mattered. Not worth the monies. Terribly overvalued and under performs when playing in games that actually mattered.

KC stats-

26-30-1  and 0 playoff wins. Historical performance does not correlate with Player/Agent salary demands.  Good by, let someone else overpay KC.

I don't understand Skins fans like you. At least half the teams in this league don't have a franchise QB. You guys haven't had a real one  for like 20 years until Cousins. You guys do and now it's all ruined. I live in the DC area and I hear guys like you say Cousins isn't worth it. I guess it's worth it to try and find one in the draft since that is so easy to do right? 3 years ago they coulda gave Cousins a LTD averaging $18M/year, that deal would be so good right now but instead they rented him for 2 years at $44M. Yeah, that makes sense...

I haven't seen Cousins play too much, but I've been wondering about this.  There must be some reason the Redskins wanted to make the trade.  It seems like the people on this board may be overestimating Cousins.  I don't think I would want to be the GM of a team that gives him a long-term deal for huge money.

This is the most baffling trade I can remember. What is Washington thinking?

I don't think there was a lot of thinking going on up there.   ;)

It is getting ridiculous what teams are willing to pay any QB who is functional.

Wow, this is crazy news to hear. I'm a big Cousins fan, if we didn't trade for Jimmy G I wanted us to go after him. I hope he goes to an AFC team now to keep him out of the NFC. I'm glad for Cousins, the Skins are clueless and now he can go where he is wanted. The whole Cousins thing was handled so badly by Washington. Just think, they were too cheap to pay him 3 years ago and I think it would've been around $18M a year contract if they did it back then. That contract would be a steal right now.  Dumb move.

I think you guys got the better QB in the end here.

3-5 week recovery time. It won't affect the physical.

Still would be surprised if we go in a different direction than Blake.

He may be an upgrade, but he also is going to cost a TON and require us to lock him up long-term. I wouldn't be opposed, but I liked what I saw from Blake this year. Like the idea of rolling with him next year and banking on being a little bit more consistent and having your guy for the next several years.

I’m just severely concerned as to why you’d be risk your 3-5 year window you’ve got with that defense on a guy like Bortles being consistent moving forward.  Teams are going to BEG and force JAX to have Bortles beat them next year.

Take Cousins now and have a “real” shot next year.  It’s likely you win that AFCCG if it weren’t for Bortles being inept in the 2nd half.

Bortles did fine in the second. The play calling was garbage and out him in extremely hard pressed spots.

Cousins is going to warrant a massive deal with a bidding war about to ensue. We no longer have loads and loads of cap (although we do have a solid amount if a couple guys are let go), and are going to have to pay some guys here soon.

I like Cousins and he's definitely an upgrade, but you have to be damn sure this guy can will a team to the SB for sure if you're handing out 90M+ guaranteed.

That will be Coughin and co.'s decision on whether that's worth it.

As for you blaming Bortles for the 2nd half. I have zero idea how you come to that. The OC was largely calling run-run-pass and putting him in 3rd and long and playing not to lose. That was not on Blake.

Regards the sentiment that "Cousins is about to get paid"......

Yes, because he'll decide not to retire and take up gardening - he's about to cash in - again.

But make no mistake, the guy's already a multi-millionaire. WA FT'd him two years running - which is money directly into the bank.

He could quit tomorrow - save his brain a whole bunch of abuse - and not have a worry in the world.

He might not be the greatest QB of all time....but some folks would consider that being a success.
