there are two types of people in the world, people who stay silent when asked "who is on this call", and people who instantly start talking all at once.

I'm in the first group, but so are most (at least within the engineering world).  So i usually force myself to go first so i'm not talking over anyone.

I'm an engineer and used to always stay silent, but now as a project manager I start talking before they have even finished asking. The key for conference calls is just be assertive and don't waffle and be awkward.

Same.  Just jump in and keep talking.

I also learned that when i started managing projects.

Glad that phase died.

Its kinda still a thing:

One Direction was a thing a while back.

BTS broke through into the mainstream US zeitgeist.

There is a consensus opinion pegging BROCKHAMPTON as a boyband.

The 1975 is essential genre bending music in a boyband skin mask.

Fallout Boy put out a record this year.

Not to the highs previously. Oh and it will be back. Count on it.

I'd like to talk about real bands. Bands that play their instruments and don't bounce around on stage and try to be cute for girls half their age.

Brah, you pretty much described all of dad rock, hair metal, grunge, emo, and stadium rock. They all bounce around trying to be cute for women half their age.

if you changed “try to act dark and serious for men-children their own age” you’d be describing metal.
