Bye Week Assessment Thread

I think it is depressing that Randall, like Hyde and Hayward, is now a really good player after leaving here.

Anyways,  I think this roster is what we thought entering the year... some talent and some holes.

On O- little frustrated that the ground game hasn’t been more involved. Bad game flow partially. AR has been solid (kind of seeing ghosts since he’s been hurt). Wrs have talent, inconsistent. OL has been solid.

Situationally this team has been bad. Settling for too many FGs. Combo of design and inexperience.

D- We have holes at Edge and one S. Been happy with Dix, the 3rd highest graded S on pff. Daniels has taken s step back. Corners have been adequate (big improvement from last year). Martinez has been pretty good. Burks is a rookie safety playing lb.

I’m honestly confused how this D can only play good halfs. Can Pettine not make in game adjustments? Like yesterday we didn’t leave the small ball lineup till the third and played Morrison more since SF was running with a FB.

Overall we are a half game behind my expectations entering the season. Fortunately,  no major injuries outside wilk. I think the squad has better ball in them particularly on O. Not sure the D will get better unless like and Adams, Burks, Jones comes out of nowhere.

Aren't we leading the division over the Bears? We beat them, and the tie doesn't really count towards the standings. I'm probably wrong.

I think you're technically correct, but unless the Bears tie a game that tiebreaker won't ever come into effect.

CHI is 3-2.  They have won .600 of their games.

GB is 3-2-1.  They have won 3.5 of their 6 games, .583 ---- So GB is percentage points behind CHI currently.

The tie counts as 1/2 a  win and 1/2 a loss.

This is something that needs to change in the post bye week games.  Clark is logging far too many snaps.

The tie does count mathematically. Bears win% is 60% (3 wins in 5 games) while Packers are 58% (3.5 wins in 6 games).

It helps to think of each game as a numerical win %. A win adds a 100% (1-0) to the season average so it drags the season % towards 100% while a loss drags it towards 0% and a tie drags it towards 50%.

so it depends what the records of the 2 teams are.

4-2-0 > 4-2-1 (tie hurts record since teams are above 50%)

3-3-0 = 3-3-1 (tie has no effect since teams are already at 50%)

2-4-0 < 2-4-1 (tie helps record since teams are below 50%)

He has what, 80 career TDs and didn't he lead the league in TDs in seattle last year? I think it's safe to say no.

You just made my point. For us this year, he has a single TD but has been good between the 20s, including several chunk plays. He's been basically invisible in the redzone where I thought we'd use him the most.

If teams are going to continue to single cover Tae down there, then sorry Jimmy. Once or if attention shifts toward Adams, Jimmy will get more targets.

Week 6 DVOA has us ranked: 14th overall, 6th on Offense, 22nd on defense, 29th on STs.

ST's we are lagging in FG/XP (obv), Punt Return (obv), and have gotten an unusually high advantage from opposing STs.  Punt is our best unit.

I wonder where we would be on special teams if momty's returns weren't all called back.

does feel like the MVS fade route should have gone Graham's way.  Not sure how any defense stops that without exceptional man to man cover guys who can jump.

To clarify, he should have been in that spot for that route combo, not that he was open on that play last night.

In the NFL app 3-2-1 and 3-3 are both displayed as 0.500. It bugs me to no end.

Lewis was going to be our super redzone weapon. He has zero yards. But we can still watch his jaguars highlights I guess.

I thought Lewis' forte was blocking rather than receiving?  We should use him more in this capacity, especially against top pass rushing defenses.
