ESB will be back, that's one. If Davis can stay healthy and is resigned, that' another one... Then if a speed guy is added from the draft, I'd like the speed at WR. Mazrimiv
I am very interested to see whether the WR Davis we got a glimpse of this pre-season will show up in the real games. He's looked like a much different WR than the guy we've seen in the past.
Chili
Its funny as the WR group now is exactly what I predicted when I made my final 53. In a very roundabout way of course

Only one over 6’3” Just in general there aren’t very many tall receivers who are at the top of the league in anything right now. I do believe that MVS is gonna be an exception though. He’s 6’4” and moves like he’s 6’1”.
boratt
Receivers have a better chance at 5’10” than 6’5” Thats crazy to think about. Maybe RAS should be adjusted not to increase as height goes up, but to increase as height reaches ideal and then start decreasing when it crosses 6’3” Edited September 3, 2019 by boratt

Cheech
1 hour ago, MrBobGray said: Tonyan is almost certainly playing around 245-250 at this point. He was at 235 coming out as a converted WR. Are we converting Lazard to TE? Because if not, he needs to be able to win outside and that's a very different game. There's a reason there's so few successful big receivers in the NFL. By any measure, the only pro-bowl caliber WRs who are 6'4" or taller I can think of are Evans, Green and Golladay. The vast majority of high end receivers in the league are shorter guys. It's just too difficult to be a purely jump ball receiver in the NFL, because corners are good at playing the ball and it's there aren't many QBs who can reliably place it where only the receiver can get it. Lazard doesn't have to be an elite route runner, but he needs to be able to at least keep the CB guessing what his route is. If he's wearing his corner like a shirt every play, why not just put a smaller guy in? Yeah it's great he can box someone out, but I'd rather have a guy who's open by three yards. And as far as the redzone, that's largely been dominated by precision route runners and high end CoD guys for years. Here's the top 20 guys in targets in the redzone in 2018: Davante Adams - 6'1" Michael Thomas - 6'3" JuJu Smith-Schuster - 6'1" Zach Ertz - 6'5" Hopkins - 6'1" Alvin Kamara - 5'10" Travis Kelce - 6'5" DeAndre Hopkins - 6'1" Antonio Brown - 5'10" James White - 5'10" Eric Ebron - 6'4" Adam Thielen - 6'2" Julian Edelman - 5'10" Odell Beckham - 5'11" George Kittle - 6'4" Jarvis Landry - 5'11" Sterling Shepard - 5'10" Todd Gurley - 6'1" Stefon Diggs - 6'0" Brandin Cooks - 5'10" Now, ignore the RBs since that's generally a different style of target, but you can see even from the rest that there's not a single 6'4"+ receiver on that list. The only people 6'4" and over are TEs, and all of those TEs have exceptional movement skills. The days of throwing a fade to your biggest guy on the outside are gone; there's just so many better ways to manipulate a defense when the field shrinks. I appreciate the insight to be sure. But this kid is our 7th wide receiver. We have our route runners with Adams, Allison, Kumerow and Shephard. We have our vertical/horizontal threat with MVS and Davis. Lazard is a guy with a massive catch radius, great hands, and can also run. He's earned QB 1's trust and unsolicited praise. All of our wide receivers should be used differently because they all bring something a bit different to the table. Lazard is a guy who is an absolute red zone weapon. craig
If Lazzard is 7th WR and the 54th man, I can't actually imagine he's going to get any targets or any snaps. Still 3 injuries away from that. With his size, he's probably a good ST candidate. Will be interesting which WR are game-day, and which are inactive? What's your guess for the inactives? Madison and Dexter are two obvious ones.

Madison is an easy choice for inactive We probably roll with 7 Ol so I’d add Patrick or Light Shepherd- I don’t see him impacting on specials in a non ball return roll F Brown- still coming back a bit. We probably roll with 5 DL game day CB/S- 2 guys from here to bring the game active total. Decision based on health. Holman is probably guy 1 out. Maybe Sulivan/Jackson or King as an injury scratch. Shepard and Hollman are a bit dinged up. Edited September 4, 2019 by Golfman

I'm guessing this was already the plan when he made that statement. Guess that means a) Lazard was guy #54 and b) someone was about to poach him
