SmittyBacall
Sanders is like one of those wind-up toys that you place down and it zips in a random direction.

He played in pretty much 4 3/4 seasons. (and 2 games each as a shell of himself in 2 more years) Jim Kelly is in for... getting carried to Super Bowls I guess? Eli can go in for a compiling stats career topped with 8 close to brilliant playoff games leading to 2 Super Bowls and 2 MVPs of those Super Bowls. If he retires this year he will be 7th in yards and 7th in TDs. He will be Warren Moon combined with Jim Plunkett = Hall of Fame Tarkenton was 15 games over .500 but mediocre to bad in the playoffs. (6-5 with 11 TDs and 17 picks) Would you trade away 2 Super Bowls for 15 more regular season wins? He is also part of one of the 10 greatest plays in NFL History (I think getting away from the sack was as impressive as the catch) Eli is a Hall of Famer (coming from an Eagles fan)

If he can string together 6000 yards over a couple seasons he''ll be top 15 in yards.

Greg Ward also dropped the 4th Wentz TD pass drop this season. Three were routine catches. The tie-game ball that Agholor dropped against New England was in both hands. Dak is pretty, and he runs for TDs, and he sure piles on the stats against bad teams, but he's not a better QB than Wentz.

Top 15 in yards is a Straw Man when I said Eli is 7th in yards and 7th in TDs. Flacco is 164 TDs and about 16,750 yards behind Eli. He also has 1 less Super Bowl and 1 less Super Bowl MVP award. If Flacco wins another Super Bowl as a starter, takes the MVP award in that game, throws 150 more TDs and 15k more yards then we can talk. So if he compiles a bunch of yards for a couple more seasons he all of a sudden turns into a different QB?

People still don't think Eli will be in the HOF? There are plenty of ways to get rich. You can work really hard and have a good career, you can hit the lottery, you can live below your means for a long time and save, etc. There are plenty of ways to get into the Hall, and one of those ways is to win two Super Bowl MVP's and play forever to be top 10 in every major statistical category. Whether you think he deserves it is irrelevant. He's getting in and it's not debatable.
Uncle Buck
Eli should absolutely be in the HOF. Finding a way to beat the undefeated 2007 Patriots in the Super Bowl was one for the ages. Also, style points for @Malfatron for the thread title. A 6-10 playoff team would be amazing, especially if they went on a run after getting there.
