What Should the Bucs do w/ Jameis Winston?

Favre as a turnover machine is a myth. He had an interception below the league average 12/19 years of his career. Winston has had an interception percentage above the league average every year of his career.

Favre played well and won games. Winston does nothing but lose them.

Eh. Below league average is mad vague. His INT% was always pretty high outside of the 1st year with the Vikings and his first 2 MVP years. Most of those 12 years he was usually smack down dab in the middle at best. In a 12-16 range like in 00-02. He had double the years as one of the worst at turning the ball over as he did as one of the best at protecting the ball.

This.

He averages more than a turnover a game. The winning percentages when you turn it over even just once compared to zero drop pretty considerably I'm pretty sure.

Then you also consider the winning percentages when you lose the turnover battle.

He puts them behind the 8 ball every game on average with those turnovers.

In 2017:

0 turnovers 73.4% win

1 turnover 56.7% win

2 turnovers 40.7% win

3 turnovers 18% win

4 turnovers 0% win

I would also want Winston kept if he was on a division rival.

I actually like Winston as  QB for the most part and think he would do well with a ol and a rb to help take some of the offensive weight off his shoulders.  Talent wise i think he is a top 8 to 12 qb potential in the league.

It’s not vague. It’s an objective number. How many passes were thrown in a season and how many were intercepted around the league? Pro Football Reference has these numbers compiled under Int%+ under Adjusted Passing.

If someone is 14th they're technically "above league average" but there's a massive difference between that and being like 7th considering league average is 16th (or maybe a tad more or less depending on how many qualified passers there were that season. It's more accurate to say he was middle of the back.

Maybe in terms of keeping the team around .500 and out of the division hunt , although the defence needs to improve. However if anything Panthers, Saints and Falcons fan probably find him annoying. He's the sort of QB who would throw 2-3INT's and a lost FF one week before a divisional game and then stick a 40-burger on you the next given the talent they have at WR.

As a Falcons fan, we normally beat TB (before they beat us this last game, we had won five straight vs. them), but even when we do, Jameis goes off for 400+ yards and 5 TDs in a loss. His numbers vs. the Falcons are pretty absurd.

We're 4-4 against you with Jameis. 0-1 with Fitz during the same stretch.

Jameis' numbers:

177/264 (67%), 2,248 yards, 23 TDs, 8 INTs, 109.9 rating

If you extrapolated his numbers against us over a career, it's probably good enough for the HoF. We're the one team he doesn't throw that many interceptions against for some reason.

We lost the first 3 meetings Jameis had against us, won 5 in a row (4 with Jameis + 1 with Fitz) and then lost the most recent one. We had a pretty good streak going at one point though.

Jameis really is just a different breed than these modern QBs that value safe throws... and I mean these QBs were all bred that way for good reason, winning the turnover battle is key, but I'd be interested to see if a true gunslinger like Jameis could buck the trend so I'm glad TB is committing to him for at least 1 more year. He obviously needs to be better, some of the throws he makes are inexcusable and you simply cannot succeed with (namely the LBs he just doesn't see, that's not "gun slinging" that's just poor awareness), but part of his game is making big time throws that most QBs won't attempt, that WILL get picked off every now and then, but will also lead to huge gains.
