Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I think the governments plan here was to pass off as many cases as the flu as possible and not official coronavirus numbers. Hence the lack of test kits and ridiculous testing criteria (travel to China/Italy a requirement). This could of worked except the 20% hospitalization rate of the virus, which would cause all hospital beds in the country to be overrun. The government didn’t account for this (because our current government is absolutely dumb as can be, don’t really care about politics, just stating facts).

This was a massive blunder. And now every Registered Nurse in the country is going to suffer the mass consequences of patient galore and probably contracting the virus themselves. This will double every six days until hospitals are over run.

Sorry, RN’s. My fiancee is fuming as well.

She is Republican and will not be voting for the current incumbent in 2024 due to this massive blunder and cover up compared to every other country (if this final sentence isn’t allowed feel free edit, least important part of this post).

As an RN I now get to speak on behalf of all RN’a cuz that’s how it works on the interwebz.

No need to apologize, this comes with the job.  We sign up for this.

That said, you’re not wrong.  The government (not “administration” as this could in no way be perceived as political...) has until the last few days decided that not testing and by default having less confirmed cases is the best course of action.

I guess we’ll just wait and see how well that works out over the next few weeks.

0 patients of Corona at my fiancees hospital yesterday. 5 “suspected” today. All negative for flu. Small hospital with only one airborn sealed room as well (which is currently taken by a TB patient).

Spreading fast. Most people getting it is just likely. Just stay away from elderly, don’t visit them, don’t live with them and go out/come back.

Was supposed to head home to Beijing tomorrow to do our government required 14 day quarantine in our apartment for all incoming residents. They changed that rule to quarantining in a hotel so our work said to not do that and wait to see if they change their minds. So back to Seattle we go. In-laws couldn’t understand why we don’t want to go to my wife’s grandmothers 80th birthday party and think we’re being rude.

It's been a rollercoaster day for me, emotionally

Feels like it's an almost certainty I already have this freaking thing. I meet a ton of random people everyday and I'm in an area with a lot of confirmed cases in the bay area

I think that's the hardest part, not knowing if you have it or not. If I have it, then I want to stay away from everyone else, but if I have it that means everyone around me probably already has it too. ****. I'd almost rather just get the thing, brave the week or two of being sick and just sleep easy knowing I'm not contagious or at risk of getting it again so quickly.

This whole do I have it, will I get it, does anyone else have it, am I transmitting it game is starting to **** with my head. Knowing is always better than not knowing

And because I didn't go rush and panic buy, I'm out of toilet paper and other basic stuff that should never be a problem to acquire.

THREE THINGS IM DOING TO SAY **** YOU COVID-19

1) taking lots of zinc. It's an antiviral

2) drinking tons of green tea. Again, it's an antiviral

3) continuing to exercise to keep the immune system strong. It's a pneumonia like virus so I'm doing cardio in preparation of my lungs getting filled with fluid. Great

I don’t envy people working at hospitals, the regular doctors office, etc. I also don’t envy people working at the grocery store, busting their hump for lower paychecks, without much thanks. Strenuous jobs right now, to be sure.

These are tough and unprecedented times in our country. Fear is constantly being weighed versus being around others cautiously. People who measure visiting a grandparent/parent versus staying away for that person’s safety. This is not necessarily a short term thing. There are still a lot of tough times ahead. I am thankful for a job with security, in a time where I can acknowledge that a lot of people are far more in limbo than I am. It’s not always fun being ‘necessary personnel,’ but it is also something to be thankful for.

I do feel the corona knocking at my door. Already there have been coworker exposures and quarantines. At this point, I almost want to just get it in the near future just because I feel like it’s in evitable and then at least I know what I am up against. OK, I don’t actually want to get it. But it is also an uneasy feeling trying to dodge the unknown.

100%. Don’t forget social jobs like casinos. Have 150+ people breathing on me a day.

So many dumb/ignorant people on this people. Just know you possibly saved her life. I saw people Thursday/Friday calling this a Media Narrative and all BS/Over Exaggerated. Now half those people were scared s***less today (not that I want anyone to be scared, but take it seriously).

I work in IT at a hospital, and they randomly have put employees at the entrances to ask people entering questions about Covid 19, thus increasing our chances of getting it.

My mom is in a high risk age group and she depends on me for a lot, so thats the main reason Im worried.
