Now a days Rbs are a dime a dozen, you may not get the home run type RB but you can certainly find a capable one to be able to move the ball if need be. There have been many RBs who can contribute enough to get the job done and never get paid. You can land one in the mid to late rd run him in to the ground his rookie contract and start all over again with someone new. Unless the RB is drafted in the top 10 I do not see a team needing to extend one at such a high price when there will be 20 available in next years draft. Its just not feasible to not only trade for him but also pay him 10+ mil a year. Look at all the top paid RBs last year and tell me how their team faired. Ones that were not on rookie contracts last year but had highest RB contracts: Dallas, NYJ, LAR, AZ none of those teams made the playoffs. Then you got Baltimore with RB by committee, KC RB by committee, Pats RB by committee. So RBBC seems to be more beneficial as a team standpoint then it is to pay someone that much money. Gurley got paid had an injury cut and on a new team, Mckinnon got paid ended up gettin hurt never saw the field and niners cut him and gave him him a 1 year deal worth 1.16 mil. David Johnson signed contract went down with injury traded to texans. Zeke Elliot had the same risk, but Jerrah blinked. LAC didn't. With Mattison in the fold, not hard to think MIN will go the LAC route. As for the fines, though - one important distinction: I could easily see MIN rescinding the fines if Cook holds out and returns - but the ironclad service time designation is the real issue here. Counting the playoffs he had 8 games under 71 yards rushing. That's half his games Counting the playoffs he only had 6 games over 3.8 ypc. First 8 games: 823 rushing yards on 5.28 ypc Last 8 games: 424 Yards on 3.24 ypc So really he wants to be paid elite money for a great 8 game stretch he had in year 3..... y*so*blu Posted June 9, 2020 Share Posted June 9, 2020 Cook isn't getting that much from any quality team in the league, and certainly not Minnesota. Unlike CMC, he plays only one position well and he's not consistent. He'll look great for a little while, then have a bad day or get injured.
