Maybe tank for Lawrence? Edited September 13, 2020 by rocky_rams
GSUeagles14
let be honest, they didnt actually convince today they can be contenders. Might make sense to tank for Frank still.
BayRaider
I’d give a 2nd for him, don’t believe in giving up 1sts. Our secondary kind of sucks.
SBLIII
I mean they are currently rebuilding the team so getting a boatload of picks in return wouldn't have been a bad idea. So I guess they were looking for an insane offer and it didn't come.
DoleINGout
*When you recommend the Pats may consider this and other moves yet everyone bashes you for suggesting it.* Belichick has proven nothing is out of bounds. JaguarCrazy2832
Curious what his value is. He's better than Jalen, but he'll be 30 soon
The Third Rider
Gilmore is no doubt elite but the Patriots secondary is very deep, at one point during the season last year Gilmore was graded as the 3rd best corner on our team and Gilmore won defensive player of the year... They can afford to get rid of him if the price is right. Edited September 14, 2020 by The Third Rider
RaidersAreOne
Interesting. He is turning 30 next week so it would be interesting to see the return.
offbyone
Because Belichick is Belichick's best player.
DannyB
Gilmore wanted a raise, and was willing to withhold services if he didn't get more money. Anytime this happens, Bill puts the feelers out there to weigh his options. He didn't come close to what he'd want in return, and he realized that Gilmore is too important to the team's success this season to just let go (that's besides the money they'd be paying him to not play). Therefore, he bit the bullet and paid up. It's a slightly interesting note to have confirmed, but it's really not that big of a story, and I would HOPE any GM would weigh the possible return they could get for a player before deciding to pay them MILLIONS more for one season. Split the Sticks
Belichick has a high rate of success when making trades and doing FA pickups and he loves wheeling and dealing for draft picks. Give the man credit, he won 6 championships for a *reason*. As a Pats fan, all I can say is, "Whatever HE says". Aside from the fact that he's done it before, gotten great value in return, has a high rate of success doing things just like this, has a knack for knowing when his player's are about to fade, and that Gilmore is about to turn 30, while the Patriots are currently trying to win and rebuild at the same time... ...sorry, I forgot the question. ttitansfan4life
Wish the Titans could afford his contract because I’d unload a 2nd maybe a 1st actually.
Nex_Gen
They just gave him a raise. If they were looking to trade him at xxxx time, it was only because they were backed up against the wall in terms of cap space and team building resources. Gilmore is the one and only player currently on the team who could extract that in return. Belichick is and always doing what's best for the team, not looking to trade his best player because of unrelated reasons....
