NFL Memo sent out today:

Quote

The NFL on Wednesday sent its latest memo to all 32 teams about the importance of wearing masks, stressing safety while also warning that those who do not comply will be held accountable...

"Inconsistent adherence to health and safety protocols, such as wearing face coverings and observing physical distancing requirements will put the 2020 season at risk..."

Penalties have already exceeded $1 million in the first few weeks, and the NFL is willing to impose additional measures -- such as suspensions and forfeiture of draft choices -- in order to enforce its protocol.

"My September 14th memo stated that failure to adhere to the mask covering requirement will result in accountability measures being imposed against offending individuals and/or clubs, and fines were levied against individuals and clubs last week for violations of the Game Day Protocols," Vincent wrote. "We will continue to address lack of compliance with accountability measures that may also include suspensions of persons involved, and/or the forfeiture of a draft choice(s)."

Will never understand why the league didn’t throw in a couple league-wide or conference specific bye weeks in October/November to give teams two really easy reschedule dates.

Because everyone was kissing the NFL's but like they have actually done anything more than luck out. They didn't do anything elaborate like the NBA and NHL's bubbles. They're not dealing with the complexities of the UEFA Champions Luague. Yet they wanted everyone to kiss their butts for what amounted to not playing pre-season games...

The NFL honestly seemed like they were just praying Covid would go away before the season started. I still really doubt that we make it through the entire season without some sort of break or stoppage to the season.

Isn't this upcoming week one of them? No divisional games.

Steelers/Titans could actually have their bye week this week. If you move their byes to this week, move the Ravens/Steelers game to week 8, and this game to week 7, it works out with no other changes(Ravens bye becomes week 7)

That is more of just a chance coincidence than a contingency though. But like someone else said:

I don't doubt the NFL is going to try to push games back a day, shuffle byes, etc, whatever they can do for as long as it works. And when it finally doesn't work they suspend the season for two weeks and try to get the players to agree to some sort of bubble to restart the season. There's a reason they gave themselves 1 month of slack with the SB.

Just gotta keep staying 3 steps ahead until you reach a pitfall.

How does the extra 30 hour or so help?

Given the timing of the positive tests (especially with a 4th Titan player testing positive on Tuesday/Wed), and the 3 day window where false negatives are likely, Monday game start allows them to double the testing window with a much lower false negative rate - especially important for those in contact with the 4th player. .

Anyone see Bens press conference?

Basically said to anyone complaining about “competitive disadvantage” for the Titans because of a lack of practice “tough [crap]” because the same courtesy wouldn’t be extended the other way.

Yea, he dragged them hard:
