Buccaneers - Pretenders. Yes I said PRETENDERS. They could very well win the South but that has alot to do with the Saints not being right this season more than the Bucs being good. The Bucs lost to the Bears, they shouldve lost to the Chargers but its the Chargers they always find a way to lose. Heck they found a way to lose to the Chiefs and the Saints. The Bucs should be (3-3) right now. Now I know they have had injuries so we can say when Godwin comes back, when Evans get healthy, when Fournette gets back. Ill just say that yes when those guys get back it will look as though they will hit their stride. Ill say those guys missing games hurts the Bucs even more because they dont have the chemistry with Brady. So its not like those guys getting back into the lineup immediately things will click. They were learning each other and it got stopped due to injury. The Bucs could very well make the playoffs but between the chemistry not being their combined with this is an undisciplined team. Lightning struck once last week when they didnt give up a sack or have a penalty. Do you expect that to continue? I dont. This team commit the most penalties in the NFL and the OL is a weakness. Bad combo for a 43yr old QB being in 2nd and 3rd and longs because of false starts and holding then have to throw with guys like Mack, Donald, and Jordan rushing at you. So yeah they are pretenders for this year. Next year IF they can clean things up, get chemistry and stay healthy I can see them being true contenders but this season nope. Brady will be like LeBron first year in LA. A lost season but then comes back the following year and make a run at a title.

Bolded is false as of last week.

Bills - Contenders. I think they will win the AFCE. They had two bad games but I dont hold that against them much because one game was on a Tuesday which throws everything off and then they played the Chiefs who was coming off a loss to the Raiders so you know they wanted to get that bad taste out of their mouth. The Bills will be fine.

Chiefs - Contenders. They are the defending Superbowl champs who just added Bell. I favor them to represent the AFC in the Superbowl this year. The only thing that can hurt them is continuing to get off to slow starts because in the playoffs lightning wont continue to strike like it did last season.

Steelers - Contenders. Big Ben looks great. I love the offense having a guy like Claypool and thats with Juju not even looking like he did a few years ago. If Juju can get back to looking like he did a few years ago watch out. The defense is legit. The Steelers can make a case to be the best team in the NFL.

Ravens - Contenders. They just added Ngakoue to an already talented defense. Now Lamar need to start using his legs more that made him dangerous last season because while he made strides as a passer he isnt consistent. I think the Ravens will be right there when its all said and done. The question will always be, can they beat the Chiefs?

Titans - Contenders. As long as Henry stays healthy the Titans will be a force to deal with. I love how Tannehill is playing too but it starts with Henry.

Seahawks - Contenders. Dont love their defense and I also dont love how they seem to always play in close games but as long as Wilson is the quarterback the Seahawks will be contenders.

Rams - Contenders. The eye test says they are. The OL is playing great, the running game is strong. There is a stat that says the last two times the Rams had at least 800yds rushing through the first 6 games was 1999 and 2018. Both those seasons they went to the Superbowl. The Rams have a top 10 offense and a top 5 defense statistically. The only area of concern is the kicking game is shaky. Hopefully Forebath can be even a slight upgrade over Sloman but in general the Rams are definitely contenders in the NFC and it wouldnt shock me if they end up back in the NFCCG.

Cardinals - Pretenders. They definitely look light years better this year than last year but Im not ready to say they are a lock for the playoffs just yet. Maybe they could sneak in if things go right but they feel like the 4th best team in West still because the Niners arent right due to so many injuries. Plus losing Jones is a huge blow for them.

Bears - Pretenders. Foles isnt going to save them and we know Trubisky is a lost cause. Yes they are (5-1) but the eye test shows that they are an ugly (5-1) team. I dont like them very much moving forward this season. They will definitely start moving back to the pack.

Packers - Contenders. Despite looking horrible against the Bucs I think they are still contenders. Every team has a rough game here and there and I just thought the Packers had a rough game. They still have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL if you forget about what happened Sunday. Now you cant unsee (as Colin says) what happened on Sunday but this offense with ARod has looked great so as long as you have that baaaaaaaaaaddddddddd man you just say R-E-L-A-X. It was just one game. They will be fine.

How are the Rams contenders when they lost to non-NFCE teams so far? They might have the worst resume so far

I mean, I expect this from you, but jeez man, lmao.

OL for Tampa is definitely not a weakness. Everyone on that line is playing well aside from that Bears game. They are a very good group this year on the ground and pass blocking. I have no issue with being called a pretender thats your opinion but the analysis is off. Ronald Jones does not rush for 100+ 3 weeks straight with spotty OL play. And FO has Bucs ranked as 4th in pass blocking this year.

The Bucs offensive line has been great this season and Brady is being pressured on a lower percentage of drop backs than he was last year in NE

I mean, I expect this from you, but jeez man, lmao.

I think people are focusing WAY too much on the Rams beating the NFCE rather than the eye test. You can play any team but its HOW you look? What does the eye test say to you? The Rams are a top 10 offense and a top 5 defense statistically. They have a top 5 rushing attack which again as I pointed out the last time they had 800yds rush through the first 6 games they went to the Superbowl each time. You can see the OL is vastly improved which was the main reason people werent high on the Rams because they thought the OL was going to be terrible. Now you can say the NFCE is terrible and I agree but are we going to say the Washington Football Team DL is terrible? Nope. The Rams manhandled them. Do we think the Eagles DL is terrible? Nope. The Rams manhandled them. The flaw the Rams had in those two losses against non-NFCE games was they didnt run the ball early, fell behind and when they decided to run it was too late. Even still they was in position to beat the Bills before the PI call and the Niners game a couple of potential TD drops by Kupp hurt their chances especially being on the goaline 4th and 1 and couldnt score when they had to have it in the 3rd Q. Plus as Ive been saying for this entire season the league didnt do the Rams any justice having them travel east three times in four weeks so say what you want about the teams the Rams are playing, just traveling back and forth from LA to Philly, Buffalo, and Washington in a four week span is extremely hard especially during these covid times. But hey to people who didnt think the Rams were going to be good anyways they are pretenders because they only got off to this great start because its the NFCE as if NOBODY knew they werent going to play them well before the season started lol.

I want to see them be consistent in not committing so many penalties but this has been the Bucs MO over many seasons for them. They are undisciplined and it was a reason they lost to the Bears and were down 24-7 to the Chargers before the Chargers collapsed.

Cards and Rams have similar resumes. Cardinals beat three awful teams and the Niners prior to some of their injuries, which was impressive.

But losing to the Lions and Panthers was rough. If you're talking resume, we have a better loss. But then we also lost to the Niners where the Cards won.

I would say the Cardinals are pretenders, for sure. Just from watching them, I can see them making the playoffs but not winning a playoff game.

For the Rams, I'm not sure. Monday night will tell me about this team - if we win, I'll be thinking contender. People can point to the schedule, but McVay owns the Cardinals and has partial ownership over Seattle - that's where most of this "toughest schedule remaining is coming from" (combined record of 18-2 since we play each team twice), but to me it's three wins, possibly 4. Aside from that we will have Niners, Jets and Patriots at home, Tuas first start and a game at Tampa which I expect to lose.

Beat the Bears and I think we can win the NFC West. Lose and I'll be thinking pretender - were better on both sides of the ball so we should win easily, but we'll see.

Interesting take that you say if the Rams beat the Bears you think they can win the West but if they lose you think they will be pretenders. If the Rams lose yes it would hurt but not to the point where I say pretenders still. Then again its how they lose? Again people are getting too wrapped up in who the Rams played and not seeing how the Rams are playing. People knew the Rams were going to play the NFC East before the season started yet plenty of people had the Rams going (7-9) or worse and missing the playoffs so that shouldnt be a sticking point. What does the eye test say? The OL is playing well, the Rams have a top 10 rushing offense which is key to the Rams offensive success. The Rams are starting fast by scoring tds on the opening possession 4 out of their 6 games. Heck even in the loss to Buffalo the Rams never punted. The Rams are the best defensive team in the 2nd half and in general they are a great 2nd half team. Defense statistically is 4th overall and have the 2nd best pass defense. They are 5th in points allowed. In a key stat which is point differential the Rams are 8th in that category. Another key stat is 3rd down conversion the Rams are 9th in the NFL. The Rams are also 6th in the NFL in 3rd down conversion defense. So those are major stats and I dont care what teams you play when you are that good to great in those categories you are for real. And I havent mentioned how great Goff has been statistically in the 1st and 4th Q to open the games and to close out games. So yeah anyone says the Rams are pretenders arent watching the games they are just looking at who the Rams have played.

The eye test to me says the Rams played bad teams & won. It also says to me they lost against the only competent teams they played, 1 which involved a bogus INT call which tipped the favor in the Rams(if you want go there I guess) & another team missing multiple starters like Bosa, Sherman, & Mostert even got injured in the 1st half.

If you lose to another competent team like Bears, you can’t deny it’s nothing but pretender staring you right in the face.

Funny how the NFC West goes though. McVay owns the Cards, Cards owns Shanny & Niners, & Shanny with Jimmy owns McVay.

Then there’s Seattle just giving & receiving licks from each.

Were the Cowboys bad at the time the Rams played them Week 1? Were the Eagles bad at the time the Rams played them Week 2? Better yet I’ll keep saying that everyone knew the Rams played the NFC East before the season started but how many people had the Rams starting off (4-2)? Very few people had the Rams making the playoffs. So yes hindsight is perfect but the NFC East is terrible and the Rams beat nobody of substance then all the predictions of (7-9) for the Rams before the season started shouldn’t have been. I said 10 wins before last season was over because I knew the Rams were playing the NFC and AFC East divisions. Now you factor in the Rams look good from the OL play and the running game. If the Rams struggled to in those wins because let’s face it if the Rams were pretenders they wouldn’t have looked dominant in Philly or Washington. Last year’s Rams OL would’ve been no match for Washington DL. This years Rams OL dominated them. Last years Cowboys team blew out the Rams. This years Dallas team got ran all over by the Rams and only scored 3pts after halftime. So that’s why I keep bringing up the eye test.

100%. TNF tends to be sloppy and we already are not a disciplined team.
