EQ really is Jeff Janis... The big framed computer number player that can't play that fans are enamored with

I don't see it. He felt like he knew what he was doing when he saw time last year. Janis always felt lost. I think you might be underestimating the injury set backs and what that does to development, not that being injured is good or anything.... obviously, but just so we don't have to go down that path.

On the complaints of Gute not getting a WR, MVS sure has caught up to the majority of first and second round receivers.  They sure have slowed down, too.

Lamb is showing you what good a WR can do for you if your QB gets hurt, too.  Loads of good, really.

Same with Jeudy.  And Aiyuk.  And Raegor.  And Higgins.  And Shennault.  And Hamler.  And Mims.

Ruggs is doing a great job of showing how easily a first round WR can do nothing.

Here's the list of receivers drafted in the first two rounds;

Ruggs - 14 receptions, 256 yards, 18.3 YPC, 1 TD, 26 targets
Jeudy - 37 receptions, 589 yards, 15.9 YPC, 2 TD, 77 targets
Lamb - 48 receptions, 629 yards, 13.1 YPC, 4 TD, 74 targets
Raegor - 16 receptions, 211 yards, 13.2 YPC, 1 TD, 26 targets
Jefferson - 45 receptions, 848 yards, 18.8 YPC, 4 TD, 59 targets
Aiyuk - 35 receptions, 446 yards, 12.7 YPC, 3 TD, 56 targets
Higgins - 43 receptions, 629 yards, 4 TD, 14.6 YPC, 71 targets
Pittman - 24 receptions, 302 yards, 12.6 YPC, 1 TD, 31 targets
Shennault - 30 receptions, 323 yards, 10.8 YPC, 1 TD, 39 targets
Hamler - 25 receptions, 275 yards, 11 YPC, 1 TD, 44 targets
Claypool - 39 receptions, 559 yards, 14.3 YPC, 8 TD, 65 targets
Jefferson - 11 receptions, 143 yards, 13 YPC, 1 TD, 16 targets
Mims - 13 receptions, 217 yards, 16.7 YPC, 25 targets
MVS - 25 receptions, 518 yards, 20.7 YPC, 4 TD, 51 targets

On 26 less targets, MVS has 71 less yards than Jeudy (and 2 more touchdowns).
On 23 less targets, MVS has 111 less yards than Lamb.

MVS is much better than Ruggs, Raegor, Aiyuk, Pittman, Shennault, Hamler, Van Jefferson and Mims (this year).

2019

I'm the biggest Gary detractor on this board and I'm not pissed with Gary this year. He's been progressing fine from a technique and skill development standpoint. The pass rush is trash this year for our entire roster for a bunch of different reasons.

Savage is averaging on a per game basis: 2 targets. 1 completion. 10.4 yards. If your Safety is giving up 10 yards per game through the air, you're doing just fine. Especially when the guy is in year 2.

Jenkins is playing really well this year. Have you seen the musical chairs we've had to play with him and the rest of the line? He's in his second year. He's been damn good. Yes, he's a guard but he's trending very nicely to be one of the better ones in the game.

Sternberger looks like trash so far, but he's a Tight End in year 2 who had Covid and is playing behind Lewis and Tonyan. He was always going to be in a platoon this year. You're a year away from being able to judge the guy.

Keke has been good this season. He's got no anchor, but again, he's in year 2 and is platooned. The pass rush flashes he's shown have been extremely encouraging.

Hollman and Summers have both been solid ST contributors. That's what you're supposed to get out of late round picks. Both have played a little bit of defense and been bad, but again, year 2.

Speaking of way-too-early overreactions about this draft...

It's funny, just last year we all thought he was the man.  Making the big splash in FA with Amos and the Smith Brothers.  He's been trying to make trades and sign street FA's, but no luck.  I don't put the blame on him.  The Packers drafts have been fair to foggy for the past few years, not just his.

MVS is an exceptional deep threat.  If you don't agree, you don't really know WTF you're talking about.

He's not a complete WR.  Not many deep threat receivers are.

He doesn't track the ball well. That's a prerequisite.

For those who think Gute isn't much of a drafter … interesting article by Rob Demovsky (like his articles a lot) who does writing for espn on Gute's 2019 draft.  With Gary's improvement, Savage with 2 interceptions last week and Jenkins as a talented OL who can play anywhere … that 2019 draft isn't looking to bad right now.  2020 draft may take shape down the road but the 2019 is looking a whole lot better.
