I would like to know when the second incident happened so we know what is considered unacceptable.

Teams and coaches getting fined for violations is fine because they are responsible for their players but when players break protocols on purpose they should be held accountable also. The big deal with Brown testing positive was not that he had tested positive but that he broke protocols by meeting with fellow offensive linemen without masks and he also failed to wear his tracking device. What happened to him last week sucks and I hope he recovers fully from everything but players need to be held accountable when they choose to make stupid decisions and not just the teams. All the players that went to the charity event should be fined also by the league. Players are not going to change their habits until it hits their pockets.

IMO it would be on the teams and not the league for individual player discipline in regards to these protocols. It is hard for the league to know what happened, they arent in team facilities.

I disagree. The team is supposed to keep them in line. It's like if you are constantly late for work, your supervisor is more likely to discipline you than the CEO, but if that supervisor has a workforce who never shows and doesnt get ish done the CEO will probably blame the supervisor and discipline him/her.

The league is the enforcer of the teams. Should the league get involved with fining players for missing practice or should that be up to the team. What trent brown did was conduct detrimental to the team. The punishment should be handle by the team. Gruden should had railed them in after the charity event mistake.
DontTazeMeBro
This is dumb. The NFL knew when they had this season during a highly contagious pandemic and decided to squeeze every penny out of it by going the full 16 games that people would get it. Stunt to make themselves look good. Edited November 6, 2020 by DontTazeMeBro

He broke the league's protocols on Covid. It was not a team policy to wear a tracker. This would be the same as having teams fine their players for illegal hits. Of course the league does it because it is a league rule. The players going to a charity event and not wearing masks you could say is up to the team but then the league should not take that into account when punishing the team. Yet when a player crosses the line on the field, the league steps right in. Double standard, especially if Brown is guilty of the things levied at him. He's a grown man, own up. Taking draft picks for individual player transgressions is too extreme, unless Gruden, staff and players are constantly not wearing them at facilities. Shanedorf
The League has been fairly consistent in one part of the punishment process. If you apologize, genuflect for Roger and take the appropriate steps - your punishment is always gonna be less than if you pitch a public fit, don't cooperate and don't show that you're taking corrective action. This is part of why the league was always fighting with Al Davis - because he was never gonna kiss the ring whether it was Rozelle, Tags or Goodell. We don't have all the info, but we do know there were documented and repeated violations from the Raiders both inside and outside the facility Some of it is theater, some of it is tied to the gravy train - but 31 owners aren't going to let 1 team sink their season - hence the punishments And yes, the owners are greedy and they decided to push through in 2020 even though its not the smartest move - But the alternative is no football for us and limited pay for the players and even more people out of work. So while everybody is lining up to spit on the owners...let's not pretend we aren't interested in having a season too
