šŸ‘šŸ‘thank you! Ā  Iā€™ve been saying this for a while.

What I think it is is of a lot of raider fans donā€™t watch film. They see a need and then they see that maybe thereā€™s a free agent thatā€™s highly sought after that plays the same position and they think itā€™s an automatic fit.

Scheme fit is what actually matters.Ā

Exactly. Ā Itā€™s ā€œwe need a Safety... whose #1 on the FA FS Rankings?ā€... with no care to consider scheme and skill sets.

It doesnā€™t even take watching film, you can see it in highlights, lol

Guarantee you whatā€™s going to happen is if sometime this week we end up going with Malik hooker or ha ha Clinton Dix or Rayshawn Jenkins or treĀ Boston who are each fits for the single high scheme Ā people will be on here complaining about how we didnā€™t get John Johnson Lol

Ā

On the field heā€™s exactly what we need and the things that he struggles with on the field we donā€™t need him for so it works out perfectly. The question mark on him would be is he going to get the organization problems and is he good for the locker room. The more research I did on him for that I realized that shouldnā€™t really be an issue.

What did you find?

Itā€™s widely believed that because he was traded from Jacksonville to Minnesota and then traded for Minnesota to Baltimore mid season Who then chose to let him hit the Over market this offĀ seasonĀ that the common denominator is that heā€™s a problem in the locker rooms and for theĀ organizations that he plays for. However when you do the research you find out that the only organization he actually had a problem with was

Jacksonville because they werenā€™t paying him and he wasnā€™t the only player that had problems with Jacksonville. For example Jalen Ramsey had problems with Jacksonville and was traded to the Rams and is now a model citizen on their team. And none of us have problems with Jalen Ramsey

The Vikings traded for him because they thought they were getting ready to make a Super Bowl run but then injuries in training camp in early in the season destroyed the tub and they realize they didnā€™t have the money to re-sign him anyway so they traded him to try to get the draft picks that they traded for him back.

then with Baltimore he was never really a scheme fit because they ran a 34 which asks their edge players to how about in the run game Ā and occasionally cover which isnā€™t really his game(heā€™s a pureĀ pass rusher)

Yeah, i figured that was pretty much it.Ā Eveybody wanted out of Jax so you can't really count that against him.

Because thatā€™s the knock on him is that why would a team trade for him and then trade him right after(Vikings) and then another team trade for him and have the money to pay him but choose not to(ravens)

The question ofĀ why does everyone keep trading him is what leaves the door open for speculation about his character.Ā
Ā

But what he gives us is exactly what we need which is a bonafideĀ pass rush specialist.Ā

While I agree he has not been playing single high in the system he has been in - is that not partly circumstantial i.e., the reason he isnā€™t a scheme fit is that he hasnā€™t been playing inĀ a single high, not that he canā€™t?

No doubt that as a result of not having seen him play our system, there is no evidence or ā€˜tapeā€™ if you want to call it that of him successfully playing single high then it is a projection or a risk. But if you think he has the physical skill set and the mental ability learn to play in a less familiar scheme (plus the character to offer leadership and culture to an area of the team full of young and inexperienced players) - might it be worth the risk if you feel he could offer elite playĀ at the position?Ā
