I had my flag firmly planted in McDermott for two season to be fair. You know me, I'm a big proponent of guys from particular coaching trees, and when those trees intersect in a particular assistant that's even more of an indicator for me. McDermott was also a guy that his former players (in Carolina and some of the guys who played under him as a position coach in Philly) specifically mentioned that guys would "run through brick walls for (or die trying)." That's someone you absolutely want to try and bring into your organization in my estimation.

But if Green bay became vacant, it'd be tough for him to resist coaching Aaron Rodgers. Gruden I think returns to the booth unless a marquee job opens up. Josh McDaniels to the New york Giants Jim Bob Cooter to Tampa Matt Patricia to Cincinnati Mike Vrabel to the Browns Jim Harbaugh to Chicago is certainly a possibility. It's said to be his dream NFL job, his former DC/DB coach Vic Fangio/Ed Donatell are currently at the same positions there, and his brother said he was a fan of Trubisky coming out. Quote He liked him coming out,” said Harbaugh's brother John Harbaugh, via Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “You know I did talk to him about the quarterbacks — I always do. And he thought very highly of him.” Quote Trotter said on SportsCenter. “Jim Harbaugh, from what I understand, the Rams is not a job he is looking at. If he were to come back to the NFL, from what I’ve been told, is that his dream job would be in Chicago where he started his playing career under Mike Ditka. Quote Fred Huebner @FredHuebner People are correct that Harbaugh would likely not take the Bears job with a pay cut, but Mongo told me yesterday the Bears HC job is the dream job for Singletary, Frazier, Rivera, Harbaugh, all of them. Not saying it's gunna happen but it definitely seems like one of the more likely fits this offseason.

His reputation at the NCAA level isn't going to translate into major $$$ for him in the pros. Although we've seen guys like Pete Carroll come back and have success, PC left in the face of NCAA punishment. Saban and Alabama are practically insulated from this- Ask DJ Fluker bout that Corvette he'd take to the casinos in Biloxi. I doubt Saban even has a desire to return to the NFL to begin with. Better leader of men than leader of playcalling? I could see it. There’s a reason he’s stuck around Seattle for so long. On a serious note, it’ll always go to the coordinators of successful offenses and defenses. Personally I’d like to see McDaniels get a second shot. Teryl Austin. Maybe too early for Keith Butler. Gary Patterson from TCU was an intriguing mention. Dabo would never leave. Harbaugh will stick around Michigan for a while. Hell since there’s such a youth movement in the NFL, why not Frost from UCF? James Franklin has done a hell of a job at PSU.
