I think Dak takes the 1 spot if he plays well tonight, and likely wins. As long as he plays well he should have the best chance to win MVP by the end of this week.

He was awful and it's obvious he needs his full arsenal especially Tyron Smith to play like an MVP.

If the Chargers win the AFCW and  Herbert gets 3+ more comeback wins - I’d expect his hype train to grow.   Kyler would be in the convo but the missed time will hurt him.

Obviously guys like Lamar and ARod deserve the hype - but don’t underestimate the “shiny new guy” momentum effect, either (see: Lamar & Mahomes).

That thursday night game between Chargers-Chiefs is gonna be a big one.

It's a must-win for the Chargers IMO, because holding the tiebreaker is the clearest path to winning the AFCW for them IMO.   The Chargers having 15 road games (think CLE & MIN were the only games where the crowd was >50 percent rooting for the Chargers) works against them piling up the best reg. season record, but makes them dangerous in the playoffs.   Winning the division raises Herbert (& Staley's COTY) visibility for the award in a big way, but also guarantees no more than 2 road games.   Lose to the Chiefs, and man, it gets messy to win the division.

Its clear that Dak falls apart when his offensive teammates are not elite so lets move on from him in any MVP talk.

That goes double for Cooper Rush (40th best QB? 45th?) putting up 325 and 2 TDs on the road with that team.

Sunday was yet another game where Dallas either runs for 120+ or 140+ or Dak fails.

Anyone can dishonestly talk causality for the 140+ games all day long. You can't argue he's a scrub when he does not get those yards on the ground.

People buried Wentz when he was fairly incredible with scrubs in 2019 and very bad with scrubs in 2020.

Lets just be honest about Dak's very obvious limitations.

This does not mean he's not pretty or not a top 9-14 QB (maybe top 7 some years like 18 different guys) in case the dishonest people want to pretend I am saying that.

MVPs carry their teams. Dak never has.
