Looks like the Jets just got rid of OC Mike Lafleur……do we take him back or will he join his brother in GB?

I'd bring him back in some sort of role, but I would wager that he may find some role out there on his own.

**edit**

apparently there is a some conflicting info. Connor Hughes is saying he hasn't been fired.

Either way, I do find it funny that some NFL pundits like to say how many offenses run the Kyle Shannahan scheme now ( which there are quite a few) and how the nfl is figuring it out.

what I find funny is that none of the coaches from the Kyle Shannahan tree have really found success running their version of the system other than maybe McVay. But on the other hand, Kyle is still having very good success running the scheme.

basically saying, none of the students really fully understand or have the talent the expand the system like Kyle does……..basically the system has its core fundamentals and none of the other coaches have succeeded in consistently expanding/evolving it like Shanny

When you look at the evolution of our scheme over the years its really changed based on players available and such. Like sure the base of the run game is still the outside zone but we run so many variables off of that to keep defenses on their toes. Last year when the Rams pulled out the 6-man D-line against us in the play-offs it killed our run game. This year when teams pulled the same thing we basically took advantage of them doing that.

Besides that your scheme is only as good as your playcalling will take you. Looking at the Dolphins McDaniel has put his own spin on it with two ultra fast receivers. LaFleur was our passing specialist when our passing attack wasn't really anything special so him not having the same succes really doesn't suprise me coupled with just a terrible QB situation.

I think McDaniels has a pretty good offense, and it's only year 1.

Passing offense yes, McDaniel's run game is so-so at best, & they likely won't have Teddy at QB, Tua is already ruled out, this is a 1 and done for them, not sure how they beat the Bills with Skylar Thompson at QB, this could be an ugly game IMO.

Their OL is subpar. The fact their offense has been as good as it has been with that bad OL is remarkable.

McDaniel can scheme a run game. We know this. We have seen it.

Um, are the Rams looking to rebuild or something? I guess that will be determined by the decisions made by McVay, Stafford and Donald.

Stafford, Kupp, Donald all signed extensions last year, Wagner signed in FA. Presumably it would kill their cap if they got rid of all them 1 year in. It would make sense to compete with this core for 1-2 more years but if McVay leaves and you don't get Payton/Ryans, they'll probably get around 8-9 wins next year, assuming they're somewhat healthy.

McVay definitely has the right to retire, but it kinda screws over the Rams for a year or two at least.

He only saves like 5 million in a trade

If it's post 6/1 it looks like it's closer to 10m. I wonder where he'd get traded though. I wonder if they are trying to get rid of him for his attitude in this down season, much like Jacksonville did. He seems like he's going to be a distraction on any team that isn't stacking Ws.
