If he's healthy, I could see Hockenson being a top 3 TE this season.

you're quite the visionary there, lol. considering he was 4th last year in yards per game.

TE Yards per game, 2022:

78.7 - Travis Kelce
58.5 - Dallas Goedert
56.5 - Mark Andrews
51.9 - TJ Hockenson (10 games with Vikings; 53.8 ypg with Vikings and Lions)
51.0 - George Kittle

Hock really burned us in both Giants/Vikings games. With many teams doubling Jefferson (or trying to), he picked up right where he left off in Detroit: as a blunt weapon.

With their current offense, a better DC, and the Rodgers era finally ending, the Vikings have a perfect window to establish themselves as the new boss of the NFC North. 🍻

Sрotrас рrojeсted the mаrket vаlue of the former Lіonѕ fіrѕt-round рісk to be аbout $57.7 mіllіon on а four-yeаr сontrасt (аverаge аnnuаl ѕаlаry of roughly $14.4 mіllіon).

Suсh а deаl would mаke Hoсkenѕon the ѕeсond-hіgheѕt раіd tіght end іn NFL hіѕtory behіnd only Sаn Frаnсіѕсo 49erѕ tіght end George Kіttle. Wіth ѕuсh а сontrасt, Hoсkenѕon would go on а deаl wіth а lіttle more vаlue thаn the сurrent сontrасt for 4-tіme fіrѕt-teаm All-Pro Kаnѕаѕ Cіty Chіefѕ tіght end Trаvіѕ Kelсe.

On рарer, іt doeѕn’t ѕeem lіke Hoсkenѕon ѕhould be раіd аѕ muсh аѕ Kelсe. But lіke Kelсe, two other tіght endѕ — Dаllаѕ Goedert аnd Mаrk Andrewѕ — аre сurrently on сontrасtѕ worth between $56-$58 mіllіon іn totаl vаlue.

Hoсkenѕon hаd more reсeрtіonѕ, yаrdѕ аnd touсhdownѕ thаn both Goedert or Andrewѕ іn 2022. Wіth 86 reсeрtіonѕ, 914 yаrdѕ аnd 6 touсhdownѕ lаѕt yeаr, Hoсkenѕon hаd hіѕ beѕt ѕeаѕon іn the NFL durіng 2022.

4th in yards per game and a top 3 TE are not the same thing. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks Hock is a top 3 TE based on his career so far.

PFF had him at 6 though, so he's close.

NFL.com had him at 8:

eh. football games are won by scoring points, and you can't score points without getting yards. unless the other team is making mistakes/turnovers and the defense is capitalizing on them. Hock's yards per game is a very significant factor.

Kelce is the undisputed #1 TE as he plays on a high octane offense and is a key cog. the next four TE's, Hock included, are all very closely grouped together.

The Tight End Room:

The Vikings passing game was struggling prior to trading for TJ Hockenson. Adam Thielen was on the downward trend and Irv Smith Jr. didn’t pan out like they had hoped he would. Once Hockenson arrived, Kirk Cousins developed an immediate chemistry with him, connecting for 60 receptions, 519 yards and three touchdowns across 10 games. He was able to jump in and succeed immediately.

Going into his fifth season, Josh Oliver was selected as a pass-catching tight end out of San Jose State. After struggling with the Jaguars over his first two seasons, Oliver was traded to the Baltimore Ravens where he was turned into a great blocking tight end. In 2022, Oliver only caught 26 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns.

Johnny Mundt got a lot of run early on in the 2022 season but struggled. He saw his snap share shrink significantly with the acquisition of Hockenson. For a player who was always a second or third tight end, he was fine, but there wasn’t a lot of upside. He finished the season with 29 receptions for 233 yards and a touchdown.

Nick Muse was the Vikings’ seventh-round pick last year and failed to make the roster out of training camp. He was signed to the practice squad and played in three games in 2022. He didn’t play a single offensive snap, but was viewed as an athletic project with his versatile skillset.
