Trey Lance
With the Bears securing the number 1 pick, what should they do? - Take a quarterback. Young or Stroud? Which team trades for Fields and what will it take? - Trade the pick for multiple firsts and build around Fields?
Soggust
Trade Fields for Lamar [ducks and hides]
BetterCallSaul
Tough one. I don’t really believe in Fields being a stud long-term, so I would lean towards seeing what you can get for him and taking Young. That, or trade the farm and move down. Broncofan
The problem IMO is that they won't get nearly as much for Fields as they will for the 1 pick. Unless they are ABSOLUTELY convinced that Young/Stroud is the next coming, you take the mint, especially if you still get a top 3 pick and get an elite defender with either Anderson/Carter. Standing pat and taking the best defender at 1.1, though, isn't an option. It's the way to get the least return. It's either Young/Stroud if you are a true believer, and get best return for Fields. Or it's Fields, and trade down (either to 1.2 or 1.3 if you are dead set on getting the elite defender, or a crazy future return if it's any further than 1.4). BetterCallSaul
I think Bryce Young is gonna be an awesome player. If the Bears stick with Fields who middles when Young rips it up, they’re gonna look super dumb and everyone’s getting fired. Tough decisions to be made. kingseanjohn
I would take a QB and trade Fields. I think they trade down and go BPA though.
adamq
If you believe in Fields, leverage Houston for as much qs possible and trade the pick. If not, start a bidding war for Fields and draft your QB
ET80
Here's the thing about trading down from 1 - it's extremely rare. Since 2000, only two teams have traded out of the top spot (San Diego trading it to Atlanta for Michael Vick, Tennessee trading it to LAR for Jared Goff). As much as we like to mock this out in our simulated off-seasons, the likelihood of it is slim. Another consideration - there is no consensus QB to take. Some say it's Bryce Young, some say it's CJ Stroud, some say it's Will Levis, and we haven't even started the combine/pro day work. This feels a lot like 2018 when nobody had a real bead on how Mayfield/Darnold/Rosen/Allen/Jackson would shake out. Does someone trade up with such volatility at the position? (Perhaps I'm trying to convince myself...)
Tugboat
The answer is always "Trade Down" for a haul. Right up until it's not feasible. And/or years later when it was a huge mistake.
Sugashane
Trade the pick, gather resources. If Fields could barely survive behind that line you think Young or Stroud would? The team is a mess, it was an obvious tank year and it netted the Bears 1.1 and the most cap space for 2023. Two years of Fields' rookie deal have been wasted, you have 3 left. If he isn't the guy then move on when you have a better situation put together for the next guy. Butchering your top pick for the first year like Tru and Fields is stupid as hell.
lavar703
I would just take Young and trade Fields. Not that I think Fields can’t improve as a passer but when you’re as bad at it as he has been so far it has to be rare for it to improve dramatically.
Soggust
Who is trading for Fields, just out of curiosity? And what do they pay?

Nnivolcm
If there is a buyer, trade the pick imo.
