Ryan Day knows what next year means for his job.

Yeah, if they do not win the Title next year that is going to be a pathetic joke.  The best defense in the nation in terms of returning players just filled a bit of a void with the best freshman safety in the country and one of the best true freshman safeties to have come along in quite some time.

Also could be getting Julian Sayin as well which provides insurance if Howard cannot pull it off as the starter.

Kind of pathetic those highly ranked Bama freshman just skip town that quickly as if they would not be good again next year but now it will be hard for anyone to compete with Ohio State and beat them.

I thought Ole Miss was stacked but those are all new guys that have not played together defensively.  Ohio State is already a functional group and I assume Sonny Styles becomes more of a nickel LB and will not play safety as much.  That defense is going to be brutal to go against.  Easily the best roster in the nation for next year and they should be preseason #1.

Ohio State

QB Howard (Sayin?)/ D. Brown
RB T. Henderson/ Q. Judkins/ D. Hayden
TE W. Kacmarek
WR E. Egbuka
WR C. Tate/ B. Inniss
OT J. Simmons
OG D. Jackson
C McLaughlin
OG M. Jones
OT J. Fryar

DE JT. Tuimoloau
DT T. Williams
DT T. Hamilton
DE J. Sawyer/ K. Jackson
ILB C. Simon
OLB S. Styles
CB Burke, L. Styles
S C. Downs
FS L. Ransom
CB D. Igbinosun
CB Hancock

Sure Ole Miss has some big transfers but losing Judkins is huge and that defense has never played together before so there could be some issues there, they will compete highly though but are not on the same level as Ohio State, especially at DB and the offensive line.

Ole Miss

QB J. Dart
RB L. Diggs/ U. Bentley
TE C. Prieskorn/ D. Wright
WR A. Wells
WR T. Harris/  Z. Franklin
OT M. Pettus
OG G. Scott
C
OG D. Pounds
OT J. Williams

DE J. Ivey/ T. Baron
DT Pegues
DT W. Nolan
DE P. Umanmielen
OLB
ILB C. Paul
OLB S. Perkins
CB T. Amos
S L. Moore
FS K. Lawrence
CB

Georgia will be great on offense but they have some massive holes to fill in that secondary with Bullard, Smith and Lassiter to the NFL.  Sure they have Starks and Everette but need many more guys to show out and develop and Bullard/Smith did a ton for them the past few years.

Texas will be good but miss a ton of weapons on offense, lucky for them Bond and Niblack transferred in but they are not on the same level as Worthy/Sanders/Whittington from last year.  But Texas will have a good defense at least that returns a lot of talent.   Alabama has tons of holes to fill in that secondary and the OL, but do have arguably the most talented QB in the nation with Milroe but he will need a lot more help to come in.

I tried telling Ohio St. fans in their thread.  O'Brien will be the end of Ryan Day.

He’s in desperation mode and has put himself on the edge largely on his own to this point. I agree though. BoB is lousy.

I disagree, I actually think he gets judged unfairly. There are not enough arguments to convince me he is "lousy" as a offensive mind like people conveniently say. Two of the best coaches ever seem to think he had a pretty bright offensive mind. Second, As hard as I've been on Day, I don't have a problem with bringing in a guy who he regards as a guy with a high football acumen blending Ideas and concepts.

I'm in the camp of getting things play out before I just label a guy, the offense may flourish...

It's not a coincidence Saban and Bellicheck did not win a championship with him as OC.

To think it was solely because of him is a kinda of a low hanging fruit take. And common sense would tell you there is of course context to why “the team” didn’t win championships those years. Lastly he was brought in to be an offensive mind, I guess he rubs people the wrong way.
