In fairness, through the first three years (with both having rough 4th years), it's isn't as big of a reach as people would think now. We just have seen so much more of Dalton at this point, that we know what he is - a middle of the road NFL starter who you always want to replace but seldom have a better replacement plan for.  Carr is definitely the superior guy...slightly better in most facets and far, far better at caring for the football through their first three years, but it's probably closer than people think / remember. Dalton through year 3 wasn't just the quarterback purgatory we view him as now. He was viewed as a potential franchise quarterback type.

I agree, but we're talking about right now.

He was never actually great last year.

People are extremely biased to shiny highlights and winz but don't care to examine below the surface.

They made so many gutsy calls to go for the win as well.. The ball just bounce their way a lot.

That saints 2 pt conversion in the dome was just insane. That team was rolling. Maybe could have won it all last year

had Carr not gotten hurt.. I hate injuries unless it's the eagles. jk. @Danger 3HnJg43.gif

I have no gripes with you rammy. Can't say that about some of your brethren but you're cool.

It's interesting how last season we were told that Carr was top five, the Raiders had the second best OL in the league, and that they had very good receivers. You would think with an elite OL and good receivers, a borderline top five QB would do better than 3900 yards with a 96 passer rating as Carr did last year.

Carr last season really wasn't that good even with solid to good receiver play and elite pass protection. He was mostly hyped up because he was a young QB who led fourth quarter comebacks on what seemed to be a young and up and coming team. Then he hit a potential wall, his team regressed, and he went down with everyone because he was average and mostly a product of the talent around him enabling him to post good but not great numbers.

IMO, he is fairly similar to Jay Cutler in play style, physical attributes, and with regard to getting overhyped after a good but not great third season on a great offense.

He's a borderline top 10 QB (top 12 IMO) not top 5. But so what if he doesn't have elite stats? He played well enough to get his team to 12-4 until he broke his leg and the Raiders struggled without him.

He was clearly good last season, that's not even up for debate he elevated his play from his second season and made a pretty solid jump in play from year to year.

I'd say it was all of the above along with a back injury that I'd say he rushed back from, It's more than just the talent around him regressing it's the coaching which has been awful for the most of the year along with a terrible raiders defense. The raiders in 2017 are not a good team and there's only so much a QB can do when his team struggles around him.

Because the Raiders were top 3 in drops. If you adjusted to league average in drops as it affected his completion percentage and YPA, Carr's passer rating would be in the mid 100's. That's not even counting the large amount of dropped touchdowns last year. He also didn't even play a game so the 3900 are misleading.

Carr was absolutely fantastic toward the end of last year. It wasn't just stats. I find it hard to believe that he didn't have one of the best 5 or 6 seasons at qb last year.

He was "average" and mostly a product of the talent around him? Please sit down.

These Carr takes are getting disgusting. This and the Dalton/Flacco takes are pretty awful. Now jay cutler and the above.

I can't wait to see everyone backtrack next year again.
