I am not hardcore fan of MNUFC but really happy to see them reach Conference finals.I have a colleague at work who has season tickets for Loons and is pretty passionaite about them.  I do try to go to atleast 1-2 games every season...atmosphere in the new stadium was so good in the 2 games I've been there..definitely a unique experience.

Kevin Molino announced he won't be returning to the Loons next year.... They offered him the max contract he can get in MLS (without being a Designated Player), which means he either got a DP offer from someone (unlikely), or he got an offer in a different country.

He was 31 years old with two ACL tears and was very injury prone, but when he is on his game he is one of the best attackers in MLS. That is going to be a huge hole to fill. Really a bummer because he worked so well with Reynoso.

My guess is that it has something to do with a player that doesn't have to play defense but still gets to play offense. If their speed is really gone maybe they have some form of pinch runner for them too.

Is it a player that is on the roster only for penalty shots?

A player that you can pay lots of money to, but only counts a certain amount against the salary cap. It allows teams to go after big name, expensive European players without being crippled by the salary cap.

I figured it had something to do with paying certain players extra? Can they just have 1 of those?

Three, and it sounds like next year teams will have an option for a 4th if the player is under 20 years old, but that hasn’t been approved yet.
