What he really said was "We're going to take Detroit's spot in the North and never give it back."
VikeManDan
That Poles presser was brutal to watch. Oof.
SteelKing728
I guess the Bears are so irrelevant that we don't even talk about them trading away a big name player in Mack lol *in their own thread* Edited March 11, 2022 by SteelKing728
SteelKing728
Bears got: 2nd round pick in 2022 6th round pick in 2023 24 mil dead money Chargers got: Khalil Mack https://nfltraderumors.co/breaking-bears-finalizing-trade-to-send-khalil-mack-to-chargers/ Edited March 11, 2022 by SteelKing728
swede700
Well, it's fairly clear that the Bears aren't planning on competing hard this year, but more on building for the future.
CriminalMind
I understand the trade. get the picks, try and be good in Justin Fields 3rd-5th year. Cap space is ok, but there are not a big destination got free agents anymore, especially for skill positions
VikeManDan
$121M projected space next year. While not intimately familiar with their roster, Roquan Smith appears to be the only must re-sign player for them next year. With that much cap-space I suppose you could make an argument for Montgomery but I'd probably let him walk and roll with Herbert and another draftee/UDFA. I smell some overpaid meh free agents in the Bears future to try and salvage another bottom 5 QB season from Justin Fields. You love to see it
swede700
Well, the trade does free up enough room if Allen Robinson wants to stay. That's pretty much it when looking for in-house talent.
