The Nets could get 2 max slots as well. They have 2 1st round picks, so attach each one to a bad contract and boom. Double max cap space.

Edit: they only have 1 bad contract, so even better. They'd be able to sign 2 max guys and re-sign Russell if they get rid Crabbe.

The Grizzlies will take #17 and Allen Crabbe for Avery Bradley (he is only guaranteed $1 million).

Who is going to come to Brooklyn?  Kawhi seems to be leaning towards re-signing with Toronto on a short-term deal, and if he doesn't he's going to end up in Los Angeles.  Kevin Durant seems set on the Knicks.  Jimmy Butler probably takes max from the Sixers if they do give it.  Klay isn't leaving the Warriors for the Nets.

Jimmy Butler is most likely. They could keep it and trade for Davis into their cap space and not worry about matching contracts.

There's no guarantees in free agency. And they don't have to do that, I'm just saying it's an option.

I mean, does Jimmy Butler take max from the Nets over say the Clippers or Lakers?  Even if Kyrie goes to Brooklyn, I don't see Jimmy Butler ending up in a Nets' uniform.

Man the NBA always has crazy "What ifs...", but Cleveland in the summer of 2004 was on the verge of a dynasty and missed out. Carlos Boozer screwed them over and they were 1 pick away from Andre Iguodala. And remember, this is back when spacing wasn't nearly as big if a deal.

LeBron-Boozer-Iggy in the mid-2000s? Unreal.

I always wondered what would happen if the Grizzlies won the 03 lottery and teamed LeBron with Gasol on those mid 2000 Grizzlies, with quality players surrounding them(Mike Miller, Jason Williams, Bonzi Wells, Shane Battier, ect.) and Jerry West building the team.

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/26932463/ranking-10-players-overachieve-most-nba-playoffs

A list of the biggest playoff overachievers based on WARP vs. Expected WARP.  For anyone who doesn't have Insider, the top 10:

1.  LeBron James
2.  Draymond Green
3.  Kawhi Leonard
4.  Rajon Rondo
5.  Dwight Howard
6.  Andre Iguodala
7.  Russell Westbrook
8.  Bradley Beal
9.  Jrue Holiday
10.  PJ Tuker

Some blurbs:

Quote

Over the past four playoff runs alone, he's (LeBron) provided 8.0 more WARP than expected -- more than the career total of any other active player.

Quote

Surprise! In the wake of his ill-fated post-Orlando career, it's easy to forget how dominant Howard was as the Magic reached the 2009 NBA Finals and got back to the conference finals as favorites the following year.

Quote

You can divide his postseason career into two very different periods: with and without Kevin Durant. With Durant alongside, Westbrook posted 2.5 more WARP than expected. Since Durant's departure, Westbrook has been 0.4 WARP worse than expected.

Quote

Incidentally, Durant (62nd) actually has the weaker overall postseason résumé, entirely due to his time in Oklahoma City. Since joining the Warriors, Durant has been worth 2.1 more WARP than expected in the playoffs.

And for people *coughRocketsfanscough* wondering...

Quote

Lastly, 2017-18 MVP James Harden is the biggest star who's fallen short of expectations during the playoffs, ranking 182nd among active players with 0.3 fewer WARP than expected.
