BroncosFan2010
Visuals look great, story will be crap. For all the SJW nonsense that Disney and Kennedy have injected into the new films, specifically TLJ, its pretty funny that Finn has literally been reduced to a token character who adds nothing and is lacking any story arc. A guy that was raised to be cannon fodder and referred to by number rather than name his entire life is introduced during a moral crisis, and should have had a tremendously interesting character arc, was instead reduced to a wisecracking nothingburger of a character. IDK how they could have missed on him so badly. Edited October 22, 2019 by BroncosFan2010

It was a blatant cash grab to get more merchandisable little critters in the movie. Save the animals, leave the slave kids. Come on. 2. Finn had an opportunity to complete his arc in a meaningful way. He could have redeemed himself for his work for the first order, saved his friends, prove himself not to be a coward, and add some damn stakes to this thing for characters with a name. Instead Rose rams his ship out of nowhere, delivers one of the most cringe worthy lines I've ever heard, they have the most awkward filmed kiss in a major Blockbuster movie in the 21st century, and then I guess the first order let's them scamper all the way across no man's land to get back to the base for reasons never made remotely clear. 3/5. They've already lost the war then. If you can only inflict damage on the enemy while taking zero casualties, you can't win or come remotely close. Which is fine, but then don't deliver a scene at the end about how you now have "hope". The entire ending tone of that movie was ridiculous. They had just gotten their *** beaten but because Rey moved some rocks all is back well with the world. 4/6. These are basically the same. Johnson didn't like the characters he had, so he decided to rewrite them. That doesn't make it a good movie and a bad start wars movie, that makes it a bad movie with gross inconsistencies. 7. That ship wasn't a special Kamikaze ship, it was a damn transport ship. If all it takes to kill a start destroyer fleet is to ram it with a transport ship, anybody running out a fleet of fighters to have dog fights in space, is a damn moron. The rebel alliance should have kamikazed Vader's star destroyer in a new hope and this entire series is pointless. Every instance of space battles now has a giant asterisk of "everybody involved has an IQ of 12 for not utilizing a Kamikaze attack". Johnson decided to rewrite the rules of a universe for one scene. You can say that doesn't matter, and that it only makes it a bad star wars movie, and not a bad movie, but that makes it a terrible sequel in any franchise type. 8. "Well the enemy is a moron" is a tell tale sign of a half assed movie. 9. Watch how many times the guys in red just stop so that they can get killed. It's terrible fight choreography. 10. Why is it a complaint that half the characters are perfect and half are portrayed as contemptible along gender lines? Is that a legitimate question? This seems pretty pointless to continue

Agreed, maybe a completely new story will close the current divide among fans
animaltested
My hope of a vaunted double turn (Kylo to face, Rey to heel) looks less, less likely to happen. That storyline writes itself basically. Ah well. I still think the most egregious error by TLJ was the wasted potential. The meta-monologue by Kylo in throneroom about how silly the old ways/world is, how stuck everyone was in the past and they should move on is what the story should have done. Instead, we get a retread of a retread. Blah.

Showed up on the island, got jerked off about how powerful she was, but also cool and dark and edgy. Beat Luke in a duel. Took off to meet Ren for some bizarre reason, and somehow ended up with the big bad dead. She's Dany Targaryen for 7 damn seasons. Every bad decision has a corresponding positive outcome.
D82
TLJ was a mess and basically ruined any chances of this trilogy being decent. The new trailer looked great but I can’t really say I’ve got any hope of them rebuilding a decent story to close it out.

Actually she did screw up alot on the island. Kept destroying homes, wheel barrels, didnt know how to even reach out to the force. She actually seemed like a novice, but against the FO, also arguably the most powerful force user in the galaxy, and a mountain of rubble? Shes got some mad skillz yo. With Luke replying "I told you not to drink too much of that green nasty nipple milk." Then her actual training begins.
