Oh and by the way....it makes me mad Dallas doesn't use analytics.

A... Fudging.... Men

"Cowboys are stupid because they dont use analytics"

"Analytics are stupid because they all say Dak is top 10"

I seriously have grown to hate a lot of football fans. They attempt to stay ignorant so that they can hate whatever they chose.

Let’s not bury the lede though. It’s far more concerning that the team refutes the value of analytics than it is that its fans do. The former very much begets the latter

The current HC, no matter how much I like the guy, is stuck in 1993. Analytics are here to stay. The next HC better be on board.

Those are really interesting stats. Do you think Dak should get a huge contract then? 40m+? The stats seem to say so.

Funny thing about analytics is that even if you have the basic understanding of how math works. You make those numbers say whatever you want them too.

You bet. Understanding the odds helps with critical in-game decisions. John Harbaugh is so obsessed with them that he has a team going over them during the games.

His refusal to use analytics kept us out of the playoffs in 2008. It also could have prevented winning a Super Bowl during the aughts. Parcells rejected analytics also. During that decade we averaged about 5 yards per attempt running left behind Flo and about 2.5 yards going right behind whatever scrap pile recycle reject was playing RT. Both JG and BP ran twice as often to the right than to the left.

Not just in-game, in game planning as well. And not just in critical moments, but also in the seemingly non-critical moments that, added up over a full game and/or a season, can make a huge difference in the outcomes.

Minimum 100 attempts in season to qualify.

Minimum 5 attempts for a game to qualify.

Y/G = (Pass YD + Rush YD – Sack YD)/G

TD/G = (Pass TD + Rush TD – Pick 6)/G

Int% = Int/Att

Score = ((Y/G value - min Y/G)/(max Y/G – min Y/G) + (TD/G value - min TD/G)/(max TD/G – min TD/G) + (1-(int% value - min int%)/(max int% – min int%)))*50

So, the person with the best value would get 50 for each category and the person with the worst 0. The maximum score is 150 for a QB that was the best in all three categories and the worst 0 for a QB that was the worst in every category. Here’s more detail for each category for those that are interested.

So we should trade Dak and his $35 million ask for Matt Stafford and his $27 million cap hit?

Kidding, kidding.
