Roman is actually smart when he wants to be, he just doesn't GAF. Shiv thinks she's smart but in reality she's just a spoiled woman who's had everything handed to her and thinks that makes her a smart business person

I think Roman gives too much of af actually, he just knows how to play it cool. Shiv had some usefulness before but yeah at this point her only value to anyone is her stake. She thinks she’s more cunning than she is. I didn’t mean they make the same decision or share ambitions, I moreso mean they act the same way, like how they talk sounds like they’re trying to sound like each other in delivery.

Spoiler

Holy sh!tttttt that was something I didn’t expect. I wasn’t ready for that, that hit me like nothing else on TV

The minute Shiv said “Daddy…” I broke down. I couldn’t handle it, watching these power brokers reduced to children trying to figure this out? My goodness…

…and then, when the first person puts their two cents in on the company, I couldn’t stop thinking about the upcoming tidal wave.

Wow. I can’t remember being so overwhelmed by a moment on TV. This impacted me.

Spoiler

That was one of the most shocking moments I’ve ever watched. Completely out of nowhere and felt so real. I thought it was a Tom joke at first. Just wow.

And it was GREAT to see the Kendall Roy of old again.

Spoiler

The last time Logan saw his kids together - the karaoke bar, where he gave the closest thing he could muster up as an apology to them... and they all rejected it.

That is their final memory. Much like how Kendall said they'd be remembered for how they responded to their fathers' death (and he was 638% correct on that) his final spoken word to them in person is an apology (one with an agenda, let's not get it twisted).

I think a few moments I feel will go unnoticed because of the absolute magnitude of the episode:

- Kerry, and her portrayal of absolute shock and traumatic stress on the plane. The uncomfortable giggle and bewilderment was spot on, and she really didn’t know how to comport herself. She was Logan’s most recent arm candy/paramour and he pretty much keels over in front of her. She’s wrecked, just wrecked solid.

- Frank going from typical stooge/lackey of Logan or Kendall, to a concerned old friend of both. Kendall goes into CEO mode and is getting every single body on the line and wants to talk to the pilot and Frank just gently pulls him back a bit. “You can’t talk to them. They’re flying the plane, son…” and “I don’t know. I don’t want to lie to you… but I don’t think he made it.”  just hit different than what we’ve heard from Frank in the past.

- Gerri. She was prepping to go nuclear on the entire executive team, but then face turned to be there as a liaison between the kids and the team heading to Sweden (because - let’s be real, Hugo ain’t doing a thing). Nobody asked Gerri to do that, it just came naturally to her. Yet, even in that moment… when Roman admitted he was sad, she brushed him off. She hasn’t forgotten where she is in the midst of this, she’s just giving it a moment so she could help.

-  Greg… good ol’ Greg. For the first time I’ve ever noticed, he quickly shot back a bit of shade when Tom tried to use his standard “rude levity” to get himself from an uncomfortable place. Greg is going to mediate the message, but he’s also aware the family patriarch is gone.

This episode might be the best single episode of TV I’ve ever seen. Only thing I can compare to the level of shock I felt from this was The Red Wedding (what is it with HBO and wedding episodes and people dying!?)

Final note: The LA Times with a very well done obituary of Logan Roy… I think it’s fitting that the LA Times gets in on this, because this felt very real in a shock sense.

Spoiler

This episode destroyed me. It took me back to the day when I had to do that exact thing with the EMT's as they worked on my dad before telling me he was gone over the phone when I was at work. They portrayed it all perfectly, and the actors were amazing. I think I was hard sobbing for the entire first 35 minutes.

Emotional stuff aside, Tom handled that call really well considering how much of an idiot he usually is. I'm curious what comes of what he told Greg to do involving the "delete the folder from my laptop and then delete it from the trash" thing.

Also, we all agree that it was either Gerry or the reporter with Greg who leaked Logan's death, right?

All in all holy **** i'm a wreck after watching that.

Now that you mention this, it seems almost obvious they were setting up his death pretty soon. It almost felt like he knew it too

Spoiler

His conversation with Colin in S4:1 told me it was coming this season, but I figured it was coming with two or so episodes left - not with the entire season in front of us.

I'll have to avoid this thread for a while as I'm only on season two, and it'll take a bit for me to catch up, but I'm loving this show so far.

Tom's bachelor party was hilarious. I laughed my *** off when the escort showed up @ Tom's wedding with Roman. Tom's reaction was too much. Then Greg pointing it out was funny as hell, too.

Great show. I thought The Last of Us would be the cream of the crop of newly released HBO shows but Succession is on another level.
