Yeah, he's going to be a system guy from here on out if there's anything left. Someone mentioned it earlier, but the 49ers could make some sense given the scheme. The Chargers as well. They both utilize the actual cover 3 and zone schemes more than anyone else. If he's got anything left, it would show up in one of those type places. Buffalo (if they hadn't signed Norman) would probably work.

I kind of expect him to end up on the Chargers - because it both makes scheme-fit sense but also has the likelihood to blow up in their faces fantastically... which makes it very much a Charger type move.

Its still sad to see him go. I'll remember Rhodes fondly. 2016/2017 Xavier Rhodes was a blast to watch. Still owns Julio to this day.

For sure.

Rhodes had as big of a drop off as Nnamdi Asomugha did when he went from the Raiders to the Eagles. Elite CB to essentially worthless almost overnight.

He isn't even old enough to have a drop in athleticism that would explain this fall from grace. Looking at the stats from last year he gave up a completion rate of 81.5%, 791 yards, 123.8 rating and 12 yards per completion. Basically if you threw it his way there was a 80% chance it would be a first down. ANd this isn't even skewed towards CB's that barely played...Rhodes was out there ALL the time and had a ton of targets.

Picture perfect example of a terrible player being named to the probowl because they were elite in years past.

Vikings love drafting CBs. With Rhodes out Its almost a lock they draft one in the first now.

Most of their secondary right now is not under contract. It's kind of crazy.

Cut Rhodes. Waynes is a free agent. Alexander is a free agent. That's three out of their top 4? It's kind of funny given how often they have drafted corners that they are now paper thin with no depth there without making some moves in free agency.

Mrs. Spielman is NOT going to be happy about it:

"Many in Minnesota, however, are sick of bulking up a position of strength while glaring needs elsewhere sit unattended too.
Even Spielman's wife has had enough of the GM's corner-craze.

"Everybody has angst [this time of year]," Spielman said Tuesday,
"My wife ... she said, 'If you draft another corner, don't come home. You can just stay at the office.'"

I think that was actually last year.  Like most Vikings fans, she wanted Rick to draft an offensive lineman.  "What Lola wants, Lola gets..."

Even though he isn't necessarily old enough to lose athleticism like most, he's had a few injuries like a hip that have surely factored into that decline. He's also pretty much guaranteed to get banged up and leave a few times a game it seems also.
