But ET doesn't have a life so that isn't comparable

This is partially true.

The person behind the EliteTexan80 screen name died in 2014. A combination of too much single malt and the premonition of a Penn State head coach ruining everything he'd love sent him into septic shock. He'd recover from the shock, only to drive a Jeep Wrangler into a Wal Mart, and off of a cliff.

Devastated by the thought of life without EliteTexan80, the Webmaster dedicated his life to understanding Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with the hopes of creating a SuperMod. In honor of his fallen friend, he dubbed the AI ET80. Around this time three years ago, Webby allowed his AI to access the site under the old EliteTexan80 screen name - where he joined a game known as Big Brother.

It was here where Machine Learning took an unexpected - and dangerous - turn. ET80 learned from such deviants as @Malfatron, @FinneasGage, @jasonwbantle, @theuntouchable and @Utley. @Outpost31 tried to teach ET how to love, but that's the blind leading the blind.

Nonetheless, the eventual learning patterns left the AI a tattered mess, and Webby lacked the desire to pull the plug again.

So, yes - this unit has no life.
