It was nothing more than trying to appease to Brady. No, Brady forced the trade. It was all planned from the beginning. Brady probably would have never even went to Tampa Bay if they weren't going to get Gronk too.

Only question now is who they add at RB? Do they go and draft a Swift, Dobbins, Taylor or CEH? Trade for a Fournett or sign a McCoy, Freeman Ware to add a veteran presence? Should be fun! We were already gonna draft a RB. Or two. CEH and Taylor seem to be our top two. We're not trading for one. Licht has already said as much.
incognito_man
I know this isn't a Brady thread, but there's merit to those who don't think this pairing will result in anything more than pre-season headlines: 2016 Brady: 9.3 ANY/A 2017 Brady: 8.4 ANY/A 2018 Brady: 7.8 ANY/A 2019 Brady: 6.8 ANY/A 2020 Brady (if trend continues): 6.0 ANY/A 2019 Winston: 7.1 ANY/A 2019 Andy Dalton: 6.0 ANY/A 2019 Kyle Allen: 6.0 ANY/A 2019 Mitchell Trubisky: 5.9 ANY/A Just saying, don't be surprised if the Bucs have Dalton/Trubisky caliber QB play in 2020... Still lots of pieces to fall into place, and like Bucs fans have been saying, they're going to shoehorn Tom Brady into an offense, so they're going to be drafting pieces to fit him. If Brady fails or when he retires in 1-2 years, they'll still be left with these pieces. It just, to me, makes no sense trying to build a roster around a guy who YOU KNOW is going to be gone in 2 years. Adding Brady is fine - if the Bucs were a scheme fit, which they're not. Do you really think this Bucs team is going to be a prolific offense with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin running drag routes and whip routes in short spaces? On the flip side, do you think they're going to be prolific with Tom Brady throwing it down the field the whole game at his age? That's what doesn't make sense to me. Sure, Jameis was a turnover machine but he still fit Arians' offense - Brady doesn't, and Evans/Godwin don't fit "Brady's" offense, either. So if the Bucs start drafting/trading pieces away to fit Brady's scheme for their 1-2 year window they have with him, it definitely will impact them long-term. Plus they just traded a 4th round pick for a retired TE lol These pieces we're gonna draft for the offense are an OT and a RB. And probably oline depth. We need that on offense if we have Brady or if we brought back Jameis.
Hunter2_1
Well, I guess we've gone from nothing to a 4th round pick. It's all a bit meh Happy to have Gronk back in the league though! Genuinly hope he wrecks it up again.

This is the same team - minus Brady and Gronk - that TB was going to trot out next year opening day regardless. Youre acting as if the Bucs gave up young, cheap, talented assets in order to get Brady. They didn’t. They added Brady to that young, talented team you thought was on the rise in your original post. Adding Brady didn’t in any way, shape, or form lessen the team’s young talent. All it does it give that talent a chance to win NOW. Excellent. The greatest QB ever and people think he can't throw down field. Maybe with some WR that can get down field he will adjust. Someone want to tell me how Moss caught so many balls! You give him a clean pocket and WRs and he is deadly in any offense. He won 6 SB with ordinary outside WR EX Chris "friggin" Hogan. In 20 years he's had two legit OWR.

He will copy Josh McDaniels entire damn playbook if he has to. Sincerely doubt that's going to happen unless Arians is a pansy (which he isn't). Arians can write play-action far better than McDaniels could. Big Ben's best years were with Arians for that reason.

Not a Brady supporter in the slightest but can you tell me at any point in Bradys career besides the Randy Moss years , where he ever had 1 WR let alone two WR's at his disposal with the talent level like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin? Especially in the 2016 thru 2019 seasons you are pointing out? Talent, does matter. As effective as Edelman has been throughout his career, he's not Mike Evans!
