This makes sense. This is probably his best move.

When you're a top 5 draft pick outright cut by a team likely to be picking in the top 5 again and go unclaimed on waivers despite only having a salary landing you at RB15....

I'd say it's probably his ONLY move. What leverage does he have otherwise? He hasn't been all-world, rather he's been fairly mediocre; and if reports are true, he's a locker room cancer.

Not to suggest he doesn't have the natural talent to turn it around with a change of scenery, but all he is for the NFL right now is a bust with character issues. All he could realistically ask for is a chance, and likely at vet minimum, barring multiple suitors bidding for him- which seems a bit unlikely at the moment.

Fournette has run behind arguably the worst OL in the NFL, with bad QB play and mediocre offensive minds leading the way. I think people are sleeping on how talented he is.

Similar things were said about Trent Richardson following his trade from Cleveland to Indianapolis...

There are guys who look good in college and only get by because they were bigger/faster/stronger than anyone else, you don't need to put time in to pick up the nuances of how an OL opens a hole or how a defender likes to position to defend a hole - at this level, even a position like RB requires talent that is beyond physical. You need to have the football IQ and work ethic to succeed.

By all accounts, Fournette doesn't have those key attributes. Maybe this is the kick in the pants to work on those things, but we can't say for certain.

youve brought up richardson before, but if youre comparing the two it really isnt fair to fournette. He was fairly productive last year, in an awful offense where he was the focal point every week.he wasnt great but hes a nfl caliber running back. He shouldnt get 28 touches a game but its fair to see he can be valuable in a rotation.

People forget that Richardson was pretty productive in Cleveland - I'll concede that Fournette was MORE productive, but it wasn't as if Richardson was an immediate bust, it took about 1.5 season to realize it wasn't just because Cleveland, y'know?

Just watch what he ends up doing elsewhere. As I said, I hope he improves elsewhere but his struggles go deeper than what Mookie said, a lot deeper.

Houston

Highly doubtful. BoB trades away great players who don't fit his culture, why would he go after a bad player who doesn't fit his culture?

BoB and Doug Marrone came up together in the coaching ranks, so there's familiarity and a similar moral belief, IMO. The same behaviors that irk Marrone will probably irk BoB, too.
