BrownsDog23
I wonder if forcing your QB to work through his progressions in practice by making sure his 1st option is covered is a unique teaching method, because it seems like something every coach should be doing with a young QB

BrownLeader
TBH, Baker's rib injury makes the situation such a layup for Stefanski. Claim you're resting Baker this week to allow him to fully heal and give Keenum the start. If Case looks great in the game, say you're sticking with the hot hand. If Keenum eventually crumbles everyone will be happy to have Baker back and he gets a restart.

Don’t really see the point in starting Keenum, he doesn’t elevate this team to being super bowl contenders nor is he the answer long term, the Browns have to give Baker every chance this season to prove he’s the guy so that they know whether or not they need to look for his replacement

Other than that, there’s no need to play Keenum.

Keenum is a markedly better game manager and better overall QB than Baker right now. He played really well for an awful Washington team last year and had the Vikings in the championship game couple years before that. He played well enough on film that year to make Denver give him a fat contract. This team has a lot of pieces in place and a good game manager might be all it needs to make some playoff noise...and once you're in you never know. Baker isn't suddenly getting back to good franchise QB form. Historically, a guy in his position has never turned it around. I've broke down film of each and every game of his as a Brown and most of it is just not good. Just stats, Bakers first 13gms...64.6% 24-11 and 1.9 sacks a gm. His next 23gms....59.3% 35-31 and 2.2 sacks a gm. There's a whole chunk of tape in there. It's why Stefanski was trying to make him a game manager this season. That rookie year production is the only reason he's still a starter. Case's last 23gms, working with much less talent...63.3% 26-15 and 1.9 sacks a gm. Keenum's likely your ideal transition guy if you draft a guy or he competes with a vet starter out of FA or Baker again. Giving him a low key audition under the plausible deniability of injury, would be a solid Belichickian move. Also, yes, let’s just become a shotgun team since the strength of our team on offense is our backs.
