Why even have gameday inactives? What do those do? Then you have situations like we did in ATL where Guion was playing OG and that's a risk to both himself, his QBs/RBs and the guys he's blocking because he has no fricken clue what he's doing. I'll never understand the NFLs roster restrictions. You can dress 100 guys in college.

it's actually meant to maintain fairness for teams that are injured. So one team can't have 53 healthy guys and one can have only 46.

There are way better ways to do this though, 7 is too small of a number.

The IR rule is outdated. Why not do away with the practice squad and the two player  IR recall, and just increase the roster to 75? Any 50 could be active on game day. The other 25 or so healthy players could play some b squad games (5 maybe?) to develop their skills. If someone has a season ending injury they could still be IR-ed, but not recallable. With the injury rate in the NFL, 50 game day players with 25 more on the roster being developed for backups seems necessary. Thoughts?

Roster limits are a $$  thing as a small part.  Roster bonus and such.  NFL PA wants to split the pie among less players.

yep, the fewer the players the more the existing players like it ;)

Still, could just let PS guys be 'on the roster' and there wouldn't necessarily be any significant added money. Could place a new league minimum for the bottom 10 guys on roster or something.

is there even a limit on baseball?

unlimited 4 and 8 week IR I think. Why not? what the hell is the harm?

Don't believe so but I'll not sure.

No idea. As long as they make original 53.

It's archaic and stupid.

Going to go ahead and ask this, what do the Packers stand to gain by waiting to IR Rodgers?

What do they gain by placing him on IR  today?

Likely waiting to see the extend of Rodgers injury after further tests, 2nd opinion, etc.  Also need to see what other injuries at other positions to sort through the best addition for roster needs.  Not that Rodgers to IR changes who they add.

Rodgers will miss 9 weeks and return week 16....... at Lambeau...... against the Vikings.

All will be avenged.

If the surgery is to fixate the clavicle fracture, Rodgers is likely not throwing for 8-10 weeks minimum.  He will have lost a lot of arm strength, accuracy and touch during that time with no throwing and very minimal strength work.  Not to mention the high risk of refracture if landing on his right shoulder.

And this is why I'm not counting on Rodgers to return this season.  Lets go with Hundley and see what we have here and allow Rodgers to completely heal for the 2018 season.
