I was expecting to see some talent sign at low money, short term deals with this crazy market.  I think those deals are starting to roll in now.   It will be interesting to see if some talented guys get left out in the musical chairs game and have to take an even weaker deal than what they are holding out for.  CB, DL, C and if the fit was just right WR is what I'm hoping to see for GB.

We won't get the top guys but we can't afford that.  Hope we grab one or two solid role players and knock the draft out of the park.

Sullivan ?

2010 Packers secondary: Woodson, Tramon, Shields, Collins. This goes back to fixing the defense. If they half a$$ the CB's with the same garbage front 7 ---- nothing else matters

Guys, we got to stop comparing the WR and DB groups to the 2010 team.

That team may be the greatest collection of sub 215lb talent to ever step on a football field.

If this happens, gotta think Gute is interested. I know we wanted him a couple years ago. Don't see how we afford it tho

not only gute interested, but fuller agreed to come here too, so i like the odds of it happening if we can make it work financially

He's a really good player .. would love to have him.  Only knock is his hands .. drops a lot of picks, but we are used to seeing that.  Can't imagine the money would work out, but perhaps they can get creative if they really want him.

Yeah, I'm biased but I would take that line up over the prime legion of boom SEA secondary.  It was a great group to watch, especially with the O lighting it up forcing opponents to air it out.

The Kevin King situation is giving me some 2016 Nick Perry vibes. High pick, largely disappointing on his rookie deal, signed a 1 year, $5M deal to return to the Packers, and then of course had a career year and got paid. Wouldn't shock me if King tries something similar.

Also, it's kind of crazy that Perry never played again after being released by the Packers.

Question - doesnt anybody remember what the cap was coming into last season (?) relative to the current COVID cap?

Last year the cap was $198.2 million

The cap increased by at LEAST $10m each year since 2014. If COVID did not happen we were looking at a 2021 cap of at least $208 million.

Instead this year we get a COVID impacted cap of $182.5m which is $25.5m below what was projected. A massive hit to many FA players, that's $816m across the league gone just like that - this means there should be alot of good deals to be found which is why being patient and waiting is absolutely the right thing to do for the Packers. Its going to be the best year ever for bargain basement shopping.

I'd bring King back for another go, but I would like to see competition for his job.

Funny thing is - if the Packers draft a CB pretty high this year - they'll take Kevin King II.

That's the funnel through which all existing contracts are now being poured.
