He has zero guaranteed money and dead cap hits after this year. It’s only a one year commitment really. Look into it.

It's not about his contract. If McDaniels gets fired after this season, Carr will get another season to prove himself to another coach.

Depends if Mark keeps McDaniels if we have a disaster 6-11 season. New coach probably keeps Carr a year. McDaniels given a second year when his record is 4-6 wins the first year could very possibly switch QB’s.

There is no way Carr gets traded after taking less money so the Raiders can bring in Adams. Mark is to loyal for that.

Ziegler just traded 2 high draft picks for Adams to make life easier for Carr. And are you now trying to tell me that McDaniels will just trade Carr away without a backup plan? What effect will trading Carr away have on Adams? Adams didn't like the potential QB situation in Green Bay after Rodgers decides to retire (*cough* Jordan Love). So, how do you think Adams would feel if McDaniels drafted a raw traits QB to replace Carr?

I know that Carr isn't elite. As Raider fans, we are starving for an elite QB. But this is just a very bad take.

This. I don't see how the alternative makes sense at all.

The Raiders will definitely show up for this game: Everyone is healthy, must win game, national TV. It’s now or never. Either you build on the win last week and attempt a improbable playoff run from an 0-3 start, or you go 1-4 and realize we are who we are, and start pondering about next year and if McDaniels and Carr are right for the organization.

A win here would show we were just adjusting to McDaniels scheme the first few weeks.

A close loss just continues to tell us, we are probably a .500 or slightly below .500 quality football team. This seems to be our sample size so far of what we are.

A blowout loss likely means we are total trash and heads need to roll at the end of the season. Coaches, players, etc.

The hyperbole is out of control here. A "must win game" in week 5.  It's October. This league is all about how you finish. Most teams are lingering around .500 right now aside from a select few. Raiders could lose this game and still have 12 more to play. Win or lose, there is still a lot of football left to play.

Reminder me of last years nonsense when every game was a "must win" starting in November. They'd lose and yet still made the playoffs....

Might take us somewhere in the middle. On the one hand and in theory there's still plenty of time. On the other hand losing would show that once again we haven't really been able to fix any problems that we have had thus far so it would be hard to project future success.

Now I agree that this is not a must win situation but this would be a very important win.  The idea of Carr not being tradable is kind of ridiculous.  You do not say you cannot get rid of one player because of another.  If Carr shows he is not good enough even Adams should want to go after another QB.  Adams is locked into this team but Carr is not.  The idea that we keep Carr because he took less money is laughable.  Carr getting $40 million a year is not taking less.  The $40 mark is about what QBs in the 5-10 range are getting unless they are young with potential to get better.  Carr is most likely the QB we have seen over the past 4-5 years.  Carr is not cheap and he is not livng up to his contract so far.  It has been a rough start to the season for him and it should get better.  If he does continue to struggle and does not live up to his contract we could move on from him.  The most likely scenario is if he struggles we will draft a high rated QB and have him sit behind Carr next year.  If Carr struggles at the beginning again he will get benched and we will move on after the season.  Carr will not sniff $43 a year if he is holding this team back.  And yes you do not need to be the worst player on a team to hold it back when you are the starting QB, making $43 million a year, and I can find a better investment.

Last year was a little different.  Everything that was out of our control fell our way for us to make it into the playoffs.  We are already in a situation where we are going to need things out of our control to go our way.

Graham is finally using ferrell right. We got some good interior pressure in this game. Need to keep it up.

As much as I hated when Ferrell got drafted, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bulk him up maybe 20 lbs and use him on the inside full time.

The playoffs are already likely done. 0-3 is a 2% chance. 1-4 is a 1% chance. Percentages are not hyperbole. A poker player or mathematician would call you the crazy one here not realizing reality. This really is a must win football game.

Raider chances of making the playoffs last year on any given week was always 5% or above.

Spot on. People have acted like Carr is not tradeable forever on here. He is not special and not protected in any way. Adams will still play here regardless. It’s a business. Adams is one of the most professional players in the league.
