You forget the Aggies had a heisman hyped QB this season who got hurt and missed the season. We have the QB in place. This season goes much differently and Jimbo is still the coach is Weigman doesn’t get hurt.

Conner Weigman was going to win the Heisman trophy in one of the deepest QB classes in the history of college football with all the guys who used a COVID year?  No freaking way anyone outside of College Station thought Weigman was a Heisman trophy winner potentially.

They beat a bad Auburn team when Weigman got hurt, lost kind of badly to Miami FL and beat New Mexico and Louisiana Monroe....yeah that is a pretty easy schedule outside of Miami which they lost.  Pretty sure even with Weigman they would have still lost to Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU and be exactly where they were without him.

Not sure he is the answer but bringing in Elko is not going to magically improve the offense, sure they got some players on D, Turner, Nolan and Stewart but all have not quite taken that next step and none are true freshman or something and have been around.  If Cooper returns maybe the D could be something but if he goes York is not the type of athlete Cooper is and cannot replace him.

Evan Stewart is wildly overpaid as sad as that is to say today, but he is not worth near the money he gets!  The OL is just ok and the running backs no one really stood out there either.  Who says Weigman even beats out Henderson, and not sure either one is some world beater at QB so they still will be having issues.

Maybe it will workout but not sure Elko is the recruiter Jimbo Fisher is, say what you want but he had some solid teams with A&M it is just guess what, they were never as good as Bama or LSU so thus they are out.

SEC Title game appearances since 1999 in the SEC West

Alabama 11
LSU 7
Auburn 5
Arkansas 2

Pretty hard competition and even the years Bama or LSU were down they had to go against Auburn with Cam Newton or Auburn and Cadillac/Ronnie.  Not an easy thing to do and now since things are going what Divisionless in the SEC with the addition of Texas and OU.  Going to get even harder but clearly A&M has very deep pockets and millionaire donors.  As if donating millions to a football team is going to solve the worlds problems....no it is just a rich guy with too much money...

I know it's about the money, but A&M/the SEC in 2024 and beyond seems like a bit of a downgrade from Duke/the ACC in 2024 and beyond.

I feel like A&M is, at best, a 3rd tier SEC program anymore, especially with Texas and Oklahoma joining.

Georgia and Bama

Texas, Oklahoma, LSU

A bunch of teams

Vanderbilt

At least Duke has the potential to be competitive in their conference now with Clemson showing some cracks.

Texas having one good year in the worst conference in the power 5, doesn’t make them a tier above the Aggies.

if the Aggies had stayed in the big 12, they would have owned that thing.

They would have done that thing they virtually never did? OK.

What?  Texas with what they have coming back is above A&M no question about it.

Adonai Mitchell is probably going to return at WR, Kelvin Banks is a potential high 1st rounder in 2025, Majors the center is back, Conner the OG is back then you have CJ Baxter the RB is back and Blue has looked good also, Maalik Murphy is back and Arch Manning one of those two at QB is better than Weigman.  Helm is probably back at TE.  Then on D you have Burke back, Murphy probably returns and will be even better than last year, Anthony Hill is the best FR LB in the nation and will be a super star.  Sorrell will be back also on the DL who has great talent.  The secondary is the question especially if Watts goes but with his injuries who knows.  They do have Muhammed back and Holmes, and Williams looks like a potential star at safety but we will see.

Top to bottom Texas no doubt has more talent than A&M does next year and will be a better team than A&M even with the harder schedule than in the Big 12 coming up in the SEC.  A&M might have the better DL but if Murphy is back that is even a debate honestly, sure the A&M guys are hyped but not always dominating.

Will be interesting but doubt A&M is better than Texas next year.  Especially with the talent at QB they have and the lack of it on A&M, no one on earth would take Weigman over Murphy or Manning at QB in terms of upside and potential.

you could be correct, the rumors have been going around that the aggies are about to have a mass exodus of players.....so much so that the bowl game might be in doubt....but if the team comes back that could be back, its the number 1 recruiting class of all time as juniors.....Texas doesn't have a talent edge on what could be the aggies team next year. Lets not get all crazy about Texas because they beat an Alabama team early on that would beat them 3 TDs if they played again......literally thats the only win they have this entire season. They play in a conference with 3 top 25 teams, one they havent played and the other beat them.

Texas does have a talent edge, all I am looking at with the players I mentioned are NFL prospects and Texas next year will have more NFL prospects than Texas A&M and it is not even really close in regards to high level talent.

Burke, Sorrell and Murphy could all play themselves into being a 1st round pick next year.  Baxter is most likely one or at least is a very high level RB, Arch Manning is the nephew of two of the greatest QBs to ever play the game so yeah he might be able to play a bit.  Banks it is not even a question if he is a first rounder because he is and Hill is one of the most talented young LBs in the country by far.  The high level talent difference between those two schools is pretty large.  Guys like Muhammad, Thomas, Stewart and all big time underachievers and have yet to reach that potential at all.     Same with all those running backs as well.

Guys in bold are potential high level talents.

Stewart
Nolan

Turner
J. Johnson
E. Stewart
Weigman
N. Thomas
M. Muhammad
M. Wright
York

Banks
Hill
Baxter
Manning
B. Murphy
Burke

A. Mitchell
M. Murphy
D. Williams
Muhammed
Helm
Majors
Connor
Blue

That that is assuming Brooks declare and he might not and then Texas would be even more talented potentially.  And I am sure I missed some guys but yeah it is not even close between the two.  And honestly sure I included Weigman but from what little he has shown not sure he is even an NFL prospect yet considering how many great QBs there are around the country.  Now sure maybe that DL all will become stars next year but if you are right with this mass exodus does happen that does not show much about the coaches on the staff.  Recruiting classes that are highly ranked are great but it does not matter unless they play great on the field and obviously the A&M guys as as a collective group have not played great, and Texas is not winning on lack of schedule toughness or luck, they are an elite program with high level elite talent in the FR, SOPH, JR and SR class.

No, but them having their worst period of success ever and still managing more 10 win seasons than your program has in 30 years does.
