Also reporting that A&M interim coach Elijah Robinson, who was the DL coach under Elko, will be the DC.

this is all aimed at keeping as many of those sophomore to be juniors as possible. The Aggies could be really good next year if we can keep guys.

I wonder if Elko considers keeping Petrino as OC

How does A&M think they will win all of a sudden with Mike Elko as their Head Coach potentially?

On Duke without Riley Leonard fully healthy they sucked and arguably if they never had Riley Leonard at QB they never would have been good last year either.  Granted Leonard is very limited as a passer but as a running QB he is really hard to stop with how big and athletic he is.  Not to mention they have a crazy deep and experienced DL and solid experience on the OL this season.  No way Duke is that great next year when a ton of those guys on the DL and OL are gone, just like they were not that great this year especially since Leonard got hurt.

A&M just has a lot of money to throw around it seems, and unless Riley Leonard goes with Elko to A&M or they get some other high level transfer QB, it is not going to be that different there without a high level QB.  That secondary is pretty suspect as well and sure the front 7 is really solid but Cooper will most likely declare, Diggs might as well and Richardson is gone in the secondary.  On offense a lot return but their best weapon by far Ainias Smith should declare now that he is healthy and he would be a mid round pick.

Just seems like an odd move to just go after Elko just because he won some games at Duke as if that had nothing to do with the QB when really it had everything to do with the QB.  Obviously there are not that many high profile options even available.

Lance Leipold
Willie Fritz
Jedd Fisch

With what Arizona has coming back next year why would Fisch want to leave, the other two who knows but there are not tons of great options out there.  Jonathan Smith is one of the better ones but he was at his alma mater and it did take him awhile obviously.. D'Anton Lynn is easily one of the best young coaches out there and should be a HC somewhere quickly if he wants.

But Mike Elko, sure it is a big name considering the lack of big names but again not sure he will get that different of results.  They probably just got sick of Jimbo's attitude and will pay him what $7 mil a year for 7 years just to not have to listen to him.

Holgorson is out at Houston.  Wonder where WVU would be if he was still there.

I was one of the biggest advocates when he got hired but it had to be done.  They need someone who takes recruiting seriously, and can motivate a team/fanbase.

Jeff Traylor fits that description.

I haven't followed A&M super closely, but is the answer really as simple as "Fire Fisher, replace him with Elko, and the rest can stay the same"?

Jimbo was just not a people person and he didn’t let others have any input. He has an outdated way of doing things and created a bad culture.

the talent is there, we just need fresh energy

You forget the Aggies had a heisman hyped QB this season who got hurt and missed the season. We have the QB in place. This season goes much differently and Jimbo is still the coach is Weigman doesn’t get hurt.
